Re: Baseball 2021

Why is Aidan Riley no longer on the roster? He was voted a freshman All American after the shortened last season and was described by Sherman when he came to UD as one the best hitters he has recruited here in the last 15 plus years. W

Baseball 2021

The roster for the 2021 season is on the UD website. Looks like John Marti and Chance DiFebbo are not returning for their redshirt senior years. Marti had a very short stint here after transferring in from Lafayette, where he lead the Patriot League in league batting average.

Re: Loudest Moments- UD Stadium

That was a memorable TD pass from Jeff Komlo to Craig Carroll down the visitors sideline in the Colgate game. The kid from Delaware that was Colgate's star was Henry White from Cape Henlopen. He was the nation's leading punt returner that year. His younger brother, Lance White, was a state champion ...

Re: Baseball 2020

Yes, it would very likely have been a partial scholarship, but he would have been a high draft pick next season and signed for a heck of lot more money. Given the fact there is no minor league season this year, I'm sure it was a tough decision.

Re: Baseball 2020

If he comes back, he will be one of the finest strikeout pitchers to ever come through Newark, up there with the likes of Steve Taylor and Bill Brakeley. His arm is still recovering, but his fastball was phenomenal for a college pitcher before his injury. He threw 100 mph in practice.

Re: Baseball 2020

There are 3 redshirt juniors, Hutchins, Marti, and DiFebbo. Redshirt juniors are usually academic seniors, although they can come back another year to play baseball if they will not graduate on time or choose to go to graduate school. Some years, we lose a few redshirt juniors because they choose to...

Re: Baseball 2020

That's great new about the 5 seniors coming back. There are redshirt juniors and also a graduate student on the roster, so, by the 5 seniors, I assume you mean Baker, Vaccone, Goan, Schaible, and Wakeley?

Re: Baseball 2020

Good series against Rider with three close wins. Baker pulled up slow on the way to first base in the first game and did not play the rest of the weekend. Hope he will be OK. His bat makes a difference. The surprise of the weekend was the great job Greenly did on the mound in relief in the second ga...

Re: Baseball 2020

He may be using Greenly on the mound because there are four upperclassmen pitchers who are on the roster that are out - DiFebbo, Sullivan, Dubecq, and Haas.

In the game Maryland game yesterday, there were six Terp batters hit by our pitchers and 5 wild pitches, directly leading to runs.

Re: Baseball 2020

Good question - no one is talking about the status of all the experienced pitchers that are out. It looks like the freshman pitchers fresh out of high school definitely need another year of seasoning. The coaching staff decided to use our ace in the last three innings yesterday, rather than startin...

Re: Baseball 2020

The Blue Hens took two from MEAC NC A&T, but who and where is our Sunday starter? Seven pitchers were used today. Where is Haas? When will Dubecq be back from injury?
