Re: 2024 Baseball

In Hannah’s era, on Easter weekend, the games would either be moved up to Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, or they would play one on Friday and two on Saturday, so that the teams did not have to play or travel on Easter Sunday. They should bring that back.

Re: 2024 Baseball

The hitting is also off to a slow start this season. Three starters, Graeber, Stewart, and Leach, are all batting under .200. There are high hopes for Graeber, the JUCO national player of the year last year, but he hasn’t lived up to the billing yet. Dengler might be able to help, but he has been ou...

Re: 2024 Baseball

The team beat Quinnipiac today 7-6. Gubitosi came in to finish the game once again, striking out 6 in the final 2.2 innings. He has been very good on the mound this year, following an excellent freshman year. Perhaps he should be considered for one of the weekend conference starter spots. It's great...

Re: 2024 Baseball

Velazquez missed all last season and is supposed to be back at the end of March/beginning of April. The other pitchers who did not pitch in the preseason scrimmages, but who appeared in the last week or so for short stints, are Gubitosi and Nelson.

Re: 2024 Baseball

The announcer on Flosports yesterday said Greenly injured his arm at Jacksonville and will not pitch "for the foreseeable future", whatever that means. He would be the latest in many unfortunate injuries to our staff over the years. In recent years, to name a few, we lost Billy Sullivan fo...

Re: 2024 Baseball

Delaware takes 2 of 3 against Jacksonville University, winning today 2 - 1 in a pitching duel. Atiya pitched really well and saved it for Marose, who also pitched well. Atiya pitched the final 3.1 innings, striking out 6, and giving up 0 hits. Good weekend for the Hens. I think the live stats infor...

Re: 2024 Baseball

The Fightin' Blue Hens secured a cold win over the Hornets tonight at Hannah Stadium, 14-8. It was great to see A. Gubitosi return after a long absence to the mound to close out the ninth.

Re: Feathers and Field Goals Podcast

Real nice job guys and best of luck with this. Mams is a good interview. A couple of things to note: Lesher moving from OF to SS and he thinks he's a better SS defensively than Freeman who started every game last year and led the CAA in assists Big things expected from the transfer Graeber who will...

Re: 2024 Baseball

Perfect Game picked its preseason first team all conference players. From Delaware, Lloynd is the third basemen and transfer Aaron Graeber is an outfielder. August was chosen preseason Freshman of the Year.
Northeastern is ranked 24th nationally.

Re: 2024 Baseball

I would think Greenly would be one of the conference starters, as he was the Friday starter most of last season. August throws hard, but needs better control, which will come. Velasquez, who was in line to be a conference starter last season and was injured all of last season, has not been appearing...

Re: 2024 Baseball

Greenly, Gubitosi, and Velasquez did not play in the fall, presumably because of injuries. Those three would be key players in the upcoming spring season and make a difference in the win/loss column. Does anyone know their status?

Re: 2024 Baseball

While not fielding a football team, Dallas Baptist is in Conference USA for baseball and will pose a formidable foe for the Blue Hens each year. Last year, DBU was 45–14 and one of five programs in the nation that played in its ninth consecutive NCAA Division I baseball tournament. The Patriots fini...

Re: 2024 Baseball

August seems to have as much potential as Billy Sullivan. Unfortunately, Sullivan only pitched at UD his freshman year. Covid and elbow surgery robbed the UD baseball team of having a dominant pitcher after his freshman year, as he was drafted after his third year. His fastball hit 100 mph in practi...
