Re: Fairfield
Corrected count: 20 public, 55 private and 3 service academies. In my original count of the publics, I missed VMI and Stony Brook.
Re: Fairfield
Will need to beat Monmouth and Drexel in the next two weeks to get in the playoffs.
Re: Fairfield
There is always some merit in comparing scores against common opponents. It is interesting that UD played 3 of those 4 opponents at home while Fairfield played those 3 same opponents away. The lone exception is Hofstra where UD played away (long bus rode to HU a factor?) and Fairfield played HU at ...

Basketball Schools
Washington Post had an interesting article on what the writer defined as “basketball schools”. These 4 schools MBB home attendance this season was greater than their respective football team home attendance. The last time any of them was a national football title winner was 1959. They collectively h...

Tubby called him back to Newark two years before the tragic plane crash at Marshall. The twists of fate.

Re: Ted Kempski
Ted Kempski was a name that I had always heard, but never fully realized just how great he was as a coach and how instrumental he was in that great run the Blue Hens had back in the 70s. I learned about him from the best posters here. I found a picture of him, but its not the best one to Salute Coa...

Re: St. Francis
Feel awful for the fans and athletes of St. Francis. After qualifying for the NCAA this year and nearly winning their opening round game, the school announced today that they will reclassify all of its NCAA Division I intercollegiate athletics program to Division III starting in the fall of 2026. &...

Re: Portal bound?
This incident goes way back but I remember a high school player (not Lebron) who spurned a University of Maryland recruitment to enter the NBA. Maryland's Coach Lefty Driesell was irate having lost the recruit. He said that the recruit should get his education first and forgo the money. I just can'...

Re: Portal bound?
I believe that recruit that spurned lefty and signed with the ABA was one Moses Malone. Yeah. I remember now. Good recall BK I remember thinking: sure Lefty, have him go to college; get hurt and never have the pro career. Instead let him get his money, then he can always go to college if he wants. ...
