Re: I’m awake - UD to CUSA

8) News Friday morning :D John O'Connor from the Richmond Times Dispatch reported that Richmond may be leaving CAA FB, as that league continues to, ah, "evolve". https://richmond.com/sports/college/schools/university-richmond/university-of-richmond-coastal-athletic-association-william-mar...

Sadly, the Inner Harbor has seen its better days. The pandemic killed it off. Charm City has so much to offer, but the Inner Harbor is no longer a place you want to visit. There's a plan afoot to knock down much of the now-abandoned complex for redevelopment.

Re: Transfer Portal Open

Mr. Islander, your last missive had me thinking of the late, great Harold R's repeated comment he'd make on his old Channel 2 TV orogram whenever a player expressed a bit of overexuberance at his performance: "Well, that young man is certainly very proud of himself. Give mom a wave." Tubby...

Re: Transfer Portal Open

Totally Disagree. Yes FIU has been the worst team in CUSA lately. In 2022 WKU beat them 73-0.Yes 73-0. The bottom half of CUSA is still better than 80% of FCS teams. Without question. People making those sort of comments have clearly not watched a lot of G5 football or don't understand how numbers ...

Re: Group of Five Playoff?

My head hurts .... Agree. It's all up in the air right now and, IMO, not worth paying serious attention to the topic. So many divergent discussions. It'll get sorted out in due time. I still believe Delaware made the move to reclassify just in the nick of time. There may be less opportunity to do t...

Re: Group of Five Playoff?

Well, there are a lot of proposals being fronted right now, including complete FBS realignment based on geography with a super-league that includes G5 relegation and a separate G5 post-season tournament. No matter, this is going to end up being far better for UD than where we were and on so many lev...

Re: Bryan Soltes #91

I remember him as a rock solid player, who often played with injuries it seemed. His memory will live on with those that recall his on-the-field heroics.

Re: I’m awake - UD to CUSA

Only THREE this year. But take into consideration--we Only have Nine teams. I'd bet most Delaware fans care far less about the number of players drafted versus out of the subdivision vs. the quality and number of players UD will be able to attract at the FBS level. While it's always nice promo for ...

Re: Group of Five Playoff?

Yes, Dooley is probably not the guy that going to seal some type of G5 playoff but put me down for wanting a G5 playoff sooner then later A G5 post-season tournament would have to involve a limited number of schools (2-3 weeks in length at most), guarantee profit for the participants, and garner su...

Re: Group of Five Playoff?

Nice headline but...

Another bright idea that will likely end up going nowhere. I would not place my chips on Derek Dooley navigating a huge deal like this.

Re: Transfer Portal Open

Sorry if it appeared as a swipe, just tired of hearing the NCAA will figure it out. Appears to be a can of worms they cant close. I didn't suggest the NCAA (the representative organization) will ever be the agency that will solve the current predicament; to the contrary. MARKET FORCES will determin...

Re: Transfer Portal Open

Its pretty amazing to me that a few on here have it all figured out already, kudos I suppose that's just the point that several of us have made: it HAS NOT been figured out yet. The NIL/portal process is still very new and will continue to evolve and self-correct. Patience in the face of craziness ...

Re: Transfer Portal Open

The lawyers will eventually make sure that high school athletes get paid. There's no stopping this train. Amateur, schmamateur... Of course, 30 states already allow some sort of NIL for high school athletes and the Delaware DIAA is considering it. We're only in this predicament because the country ...

Re: Transfer Portal Open

You mean playing a sport you love while getting a free education aint enough?? Thats getting screwed? Yes, the athletes were receiving SOME compensation, but, in many cases, it was not nearly equitable enough. Some athletes weren't even getting much of an education at all. This isn't even a point o...

Re: Transfer Portal Open

Yes. Granted what's happening now may not help cultivate fan interest over the long term. Suggesting it's a signal that America (or Americana) is being destroyed is hyperbolic and premature. Citing it as an example of social engineering - instead of capitalism at work - is completely off base.
