dchen, Thanks for posting. Only 13 regular season games? Isn't that 1 or 2 fewer than normal? How can travel to Denver for a SCRIMMAGE be justified? I will never get used to the Feb games when the weather is brutal. Back in the day the season didn't start until March and they played
18 regular season games by playing on Wednesdays & Saturdays.

I did a quick count of games in recent seasons back to 2016. 2016 was 15 games and the subsequent years were 13 to 14 so 13 is definitely at the low end. Hopkins is playing 13 games too this year so maybe its a trend. I was once told that the reason for the February starts is to avoid mid week games later in the year. I too was wondering about the Denver scrimmage. They came here last year so maybe its a home and home but I agree - pricey for a scrimmage. Hope we can make some noise this year but the CAA is tough with Towson and Hofstra.

This is actually the third year that the Hens will be playing an exhibition game versus Denver. They played in Denver two years ago to start the series and last year at home.

This game has proven to be valuable for the Hens. They get a good look at a top 20 team in a "real" game situation. Nothing wrong with that. From all indications, the parents and players loved getting out to Denver to play. They even took in a Denver Hockey game the night before the scrimmage.

I believe that this helps with West Coast recruiting efforts as well. High Schoolers get to see the Hens play in person and get a feel for DeLuca's style of play.

I would suggest that UD scrimmage against an Eastern Top 20 team and play a game at Denver every other year (and possibly another Western opponent the other years) to help the West Coast recruiting.

This is a pretty competitive schedule. Outside of NJIT and Mount Saint Mary's I don't see any cupcakes. The CAA is always tough as every game counts for so much.

I'm also hoping that John Grant Jr. helps with West Coast recruiting. If he can't get them in the Air Force Academy, send them to us.
