2021 Hens

Hens look to be in pretty good shape next year (if the season actually happens).

Returning on attack is Charlie Kitchen, Ty Kurtz and Michael Robinson. This is the most dynamic attack line that the Hens have had for years. Each of these guys are looking at 40+ point seasons.

On offensive midfield the Hens need a bit of help with Bryce Reid graduating. Coach DeLuca got a little creative in the Marist game and actually put out Mark Beida on the top middie line. He was awesome inverting at X and finding open cutters. He was a really talented attackman as a frosh but kind of got lost in the noise when Ty Kurtz came in to take that spot. Clay Miller, Kyle Kivinski, George Ward and Brooke Rideau will all be back next year but Hen fans should be excited about the redshirt freshman transfer from Rutgers coming to join the Hens in the Fall. Demetrius Stevenson is a huge (6' 2" 235lb) middie out of Dover DE. Thought he was a big miss the first time around when they couldn't reel him in during high school. But Stevenson has decided to return home to Delaware to continue his lacrosse career. He will retain freshman eligibility if he decides to stay for four years. Stevenson is a VERY physical middie with great outside range with both hands.

Defense will be really young and strong with all three starting close defenseman returning (Owen Grant soph, Kevin McCormick soph and freshman Tate Wasson). They also have tremendous depth at LSM with Rich Dion, Josh Bayer, Collin Hurley and Ryan Shaw returning. The SSDMs are also really strong with the return of Reed Kurtz, Jayson Seider, Peter St. Geme, Harrison Ewing and Wade Oursler. That is DEEP!

Goalie will be a question mark for the Hens. Returning junior Matt Kilkeary has shown a lot of promise. And joining him will be two stud freshmen. Kevin Ellington is a first team all-MIAA out of Baltimore and top-ranked program Loyola Blakefield. And Tim Beach is a terrific goalie out of Denver who has been mentored by Trevor Tierney.

With Jake Hervada back at FOGO, and hopefully healthy, the Hens have a strong chance to win the CAA for the first time in 10 years. Should be interesting. But that is a long way off. Hopefully, everyone stays healthy and we can get back to some sort of normalcy in the next 3-4 months.

The UD Men's Lax 2020 Roster shows 11 Seniors & Grad Students. While I understand that many may want to move on with their lives, I wish all were planning to return in Spring 2021, especially Goalie Matt DeLuca.
