As for hitting, we need to get Baker back on track from his injury. He averaged .346 near the top of the lineup last year and was third on the team in stolen bases with a few home runs.

With Charleston, Elon and UNCW still remaining on the schedule, if there was any time to need a sweep this would be it. Haven't heard anything but I hope Walter isn't hurt as Spadafino is listed as the starter for today.

Really need to sweep both Towson and Hofstra.... plus need to win minimum 2 games from Elon, CofC and UNCW... that puts them at 12-12. If they get in tourney, then anything can happen, but have to get there first.... next 3 weekends will be tough as they venture back and forth down I-95 and visits to the state of North Carolina.. not sure about Walters, could be they like him on Sunday matchups with Elon and UNCW down the road....

Anyone know why Glover wasn't in the lineup on Wednesday vs. Penn? Baker isn't the only hitter in the lineup whose offensive production has fallen well below last year's - Glover, Patten, Nardo, Scott, & Meeker just off the top of my head (see CAA only stats). Maybe teams have learned from last year how to pitch against these guys. UD continues to give up too many outs (picked off, caught stealing, thrown out trying to take the extra base) on the basepaths. The coaches need to rein in the over aggressiveness on the basepaths so that this supposedly good hitting lineup can drive in the runners. Also, clutch hitting and hitting for extra bases have fallen off lately and both need to improve significantly. Finally, the pitching (especially the starters) really needs to improve. Might be time to not start Spadafino & Milley, and try Fitzpatrick, Meeker, & Marinaccio as starters.

Walter has a sore arm. Spadafino struggled today. It's a good thing Hofstra gave us some outs with poor base running in the early innings. On the bright side, Marinaccio was throwing heat, and he needs to be on the mound more innings. Maybe they should convert him back to a starter this year.

Walter seems to be fine as he'll go today. Need a sweep here. Offense has been great the first two days.

Anyone know how healthy Walters is going into the Elon series? He only pitched 5 innings against Hofstra, gave up no runs, 5 hits, and one walk, but only one strikeout which is well below his norm.

Once again, Walter is not scheduled to start any of the games on the weekend. No starter is designated for the Sunday game.

East Coaster, If Walters can't go, who would you start?

I think they need to take a wait and see approach... this is a huge series and need one game at a time so you can't slot someone just in case.. ideally Meeker to me would get the start be he maybe needed earlier in weekend. Hopefully Spad and Milley can get deeper into game so the pen isn't used up. A win tonight would make it a lot easier to manage.

Our number two pitcher against their number 1 does not bode well in the first game. For some reason, we do not play anywhere near as well on the road. If Walter can't go, I like Fitzpatrick as the starter in the third game.

Jordan Glover was hit by a pitch last night and then replaced by seldom used McKeown, Jordan is out of the lineup today with McKeown replacing Glover in left. Anyone know how bad the injury is to Glover and when he is likely to return? What is the story with Kyle Baker? Is he done for the year? First Baker, then Walter, and now Jordan. This and many other teams at UD always seem to get the injury or illness bug. UD always seems to have some of the most injury prone and/or unhealthy 18-23 year old athletes anywhere in the country.

Baker must still be injured or he would be the replacement in left field. Anybody know the redshirt rule? Can Baker get a medial redshirt? And how about the freshman that have had just a few at bats this year - Reich, Hutchins, etc. Do they lose an entire year?
