Based on this game, looks like a pretty big gap between UD and the rest of the CAA. Hens need to take care of business.

Yeah, great to see them take out JMU. Keep posting PKS. Do you follow from AZ?

Nope, I’m local. ASU grad- my email out there was bluehen@asu.edu! Long ago, though.

UD falls 2-1 on a late goal. Only way into the NCAAs at this point is the autobid.

Somebody was angry. UD beats Columbia 8-1.

#11 RPI as well... but the problem is 6 ACC teams are ranked ahead of the Hens- so that eats up 5 (or at least 4) at-large bids... 3 Big Ten teams are ranked ahead of the Hens... so that's two more at-large bids.

There are only 6 at-large bids and 6-7 teams ranked ahead of the Hens need at-large bids. That's problem 1.

Problem 2 is if the Hens lose in the CAA tourney or again in the regular season, that hurts their RPI.

Problem 3 is if an autobid from the ACC, Big East, or Big Ten goes to somehow not in the Top 10, that's an at-large stolen.

So- math suggests winning the CAA is the only sure way into the tournament. Still a very good season and they are 2-2 against teams in the top 10... one of those an OT loss! We would kill for that in any sport but field hockey has a tough route into the tournament for any team.

Not winning the CAA would be a disaster in an of itself. Just do that and we're in the tourney and once you're in then anything can happen. Take care of business and win the conference and then the good schedule will serve us well as preparation once we get in the tourney.

#11 Hens welcome #18 W&M tonight at 7 at Rullo... the Tribe is 11-4 and 3-0 in the CAA- this game is almost certainly for the #1 seed in the CAA tournament. Based on common opponents I'd expect something like 5-2 Hens...

Towson forfeits todays game due to an illness outbreak of some sort. Too bad for senior day but hopefully nothing too serious for the Towson players.
