It turned out that rain, except for a 6 minute delay in the 8th inning, was not a factor.

Well the accuweather forecast for Newark on Sat for Sunday was a 40%-70% chance of rain every hour during the hours of 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM when the game was scheduled plus cold and wind. I have seen UD move a Sun game to a Sat DH with a better looking forecast than that for Sun. As it turned out the rain (but not the cold and win) held off until later in the day and night. It was a gamble and they got the game in. But why run the risk and why play in significantly inferior conditions when the game could have been played in ideal conditions (and in front of many more fans) on Sat as part of a DH? What disruptions? You start the DH an hour or two earlier at 11:00 AM or 12:00 Noon, UNCW gets a much earlier start home on Sun morning, and UD gets Sun off.

Is Ludman the Sunday starter now? With Hornich being the midweek starter.

Interesting that Spads didn't pitch this weekend.

Also they [Kevin T from the News Journal] finally confirmed that Nardo has been out with a back injury. No specifications given though

The Hens are in a stretch of a lot games in short amount of days. I don't understand why they are playing back to mid-week games and then conference games.
This week is understandable with the final of the Classic.

UD clinches a spot in the CAAT with a DH sweep tonight over W&M. JMU is eliminated and for the second time in the last few years will host the tournament and not even be playing in it.

UD may not be able to get their last 4 games in (LaSalle today and Northeastern on Thurs, Fri, & Sat - all at home) if the forecasted rain every day through at least Sat materializes. CAA probably won't (and can't since the tourney starts at JMU on Wed, May 23) require make-ups of any games lost to weather because they won't impact who makes the tourney, only the seedings.

Two things...1) The got the LaSalle game in so and got another W. 2.) Why would they not force the games to get made up? Seedings could be crucial to who plays when. IE starting Wednesday instead of Thursday.

The top 2 seeds get a bye on Wednesday when there are two games involving the other 4 teams. It is very unlikely that Northeastern and Charleston would be deposed as the top 2 seeds if all of the final regular season games were played this week. Every tourney team wants to start the tourney with a fresh team and especially the pitching staff. That is why no games are scheduled to be played on Sunday. If Thurs & Fri (and possibly even Sat) are washouts the CAA and the teams will probably just agree to use the current standings and play few if any of the games scheduled for this Thurs thru Sat.

Nardo did not play in today's wipeout by Northeastern. :( I wonder if his back flared up again, UD is just cautiously resting his back before the CAA tourney, or other?

With today's loss, UD has no chance to get a #1 or #2 seed as at least Northeastern and Elon will finish with a better record than UD. Charleston (which holds the head-to-head tiebreaker over Northeastern but loses it to Elon) opens its three game series at UNCW could take the #1 or #2 seed away from Northeastern. With Northeastern's win today over UD, UNCW can not overtake Northeastern, but could overtake Charleston with a sweep and could overtake Elon (which holds the tiebreaker over UNCW and plays at last place Wm & Mary, so unlikely). If UD wins the last 2 games over Northeastern, UD could get at best the 4th seed over UNCW if Charleston takes 2 out of 3 from UNCW (UD holds head-to-head tiebreaker over UNCW but not Charleston). If UD wins only one game over Northeastern, UD is locked into their current #5 seeding. If UD is swept by Northeastern, UD would be the 6th seed as current #6 seed Hofstra (season finished) owns the head-to-head tiebreaker over UD.

Since we won't be a 1 or 2 seed, the hope now is that we won't have to face Brnovich (Elon) or Rooney (Hofstra) in the first round. Both are excellent pitchers, and this year's hitters very likely won't be able to touch them. Judging by today's game, Northeastern is the legitimate 1 seed. Ex-major leaguer Glavine has built a good team up there in Boston. Charlie McConnell can steal second base anytime he wants.

To get gobsmacked 10-0 on your own field is just plain embarassing.

Here is hoping the boys can re-create the 2017 magic this year. They open Wednesday at 11am.

Will they still take the same rotation of Hinton, Sullivan and Lindman [if they can play 3 games]? or will he turn to Spads in game one.

Spadafino hasn’t started a conference game since March 25.
