Night Baseball

Postby East Coaster on Fri Jan 11, 2019 9:21 pm

The Fightin' Blue Hens website has just announced that lights are being installed at Bob Hannah Stadium and that the first night game will be April 5 against the College of W & M. Lights have been talked about for years, and they are a welcome addition to the field. Sherman and the facilities crew should take the opportunity to also improve the sight lines by removing the enormous middle two poles that obstruct the view of fans. The middle of the screen can be supported by wires fastened to the new light poles being installed behind the seating area, along with the existing two outer poles. This is the fan-friendly method used by many of our smarter brethren at other universities.

East Coaster, I completely agree with your great idea. Why don't you email AD Rawak & Sherm now with your idea before it is too late?

With the lights being added will we finally get some regional tournaments [high school, travel etc] or even some conference tournaments.

I've heard that the Conference tournament is coming. The CAA's last confirmed site is this year at JMU, so it may be 2020 in Newark.

If they plan it right, the can use Newark HS or Caravel for practice and Frawley for the finals.

I just think Delaware has some great venues in NCC just waiting to be used.
