They are on two completely different levels, even with this being a down year for Delaware. Same goes for the basketball team looking for an easy win. Good thing the Lightning doesn't have a football team, or we would probably be watching them in Newark too.
But Wesley and Salisbury do. Just wait...

4-14 on the year and 3 of those wins are against D2 teams. 0-11 on the road and hitting .236 on the year with a 6.56 ERA a.954 fielding percentage and 30 errors.

There were a couple of bright spots over the weekend, although it is hard to tell when facing Goldey Beacom. Freshmen Carpenter and Buglio hit the ball hard. Tomovich had good control and threw strikes, which is not always the case from our bullpen. As an aside, there are 6 players on the squad from St. Mark's, which must be a record for one high school team.

Wow is this the worst team in the history of Delaware baseball?

Probably not. The record books say that 5 UD squads did not win a game, the most recent being the 1912 team which was 0-8. In the modern era, the 2003 team was 19-32. It remains to be seen whether we can beat that record.

Why was Walter, our ace, removed after 2.1 innings today?

Hit by a line drive on his Tommy John surgically repaired elbow. UD lost 13-4.

Doesn't help that Walter didn't pitch well before leaving. 4 ER, 1 BB, 2 HPB.

I don't understand why he is tweaking the rotation again...Walter - Friday, Ludman - Saturday and Silan - Sunday. Midweek you have a plethora to choose from but start Dubecq.

One thing he did figure out is keeping the same starting 9 more times then not.

The team is struggling - 7th out of 9 teams in batting average in the conference, next to last in ERA, and next to last in fielding percentage. Think what the FBHs would have had if Hinton, Patton, and Callendar had stayed for their final year, if Baker and Sullivan had not gotten hurt, and if Nunnan had not been drafted out of high school. That all can't be blamed on the coaching staff.

Yeah, but you gotta know that if you have good juniors and incoming FR with serious interest from the pros they are in all probability going to sign pro contracts. You have to recruit well to replace them. UD has a porous bull pen, thin starting pitching, poor fielding, and poor hitting. IMHO Sherm and staff have not recruited well since that class that were FR in 2016. In addition to UD's all around, well noted strengths (location, campus, academics, COA paid for athletes, etc.) UD has one of the best college baseball stadiums in the NE that now has lights. I don't see Sherm & co. (who recruit too narrowly with over-reliance on DE kids & transfers) making good use of those advantages.

Agree on the point about over-reliance on local DE kids in recent years, unless they are walking on. This year's roster has 6 kids from St. Marks, 3 from Newark Charter, and 3 from Caravel. There is definitely some talent coming out of those schools (Sullivan, Mench, August, etc.), but to win the conference, a wider area has to be recruited.

Besides JUCO and transfers, when is the last time we got some talent out of some talent rich areas like VA, NJ or NY? All within a 3-4 hour drive of campus.

Not to mention MD and PA. Coach Hannah regularly had significant contributors from those states.

So I just a rough and quick breakdown looking at the roster...we have 1 from MD [Benjamin], 1 from NY [Marti], 17-18 from DE, 10 from PA and 7-8 from NJ.

Its def time for Sherman to explore other states
