Shouldn’t Sherm be on the hot seat? This team isn’t just losing, a lot of them aren’t even close. Before you mention they won the CAA two years ago, so did Monte Ross on the same timeline and he was fired.

I don’t think it is fair to blame Sullivan’s arm trouble on Sherman. He did not over pitch him this year. And losing Baker, clearly the catalyst on offense, to a season ending injury on a slide play, was not his fault either.

Two points: 1) TJ doesn't just come out - its from years of abuse. I watch Billy throw most of hs and I know his coach at St Marks took care of him. 2) Brian August is doing well at Wilm U...is it time for him to come home to the Hens?

I think we need to make a change sooner rather then later.

1) I take your word
2) Have heard some not so flattering things about him. But putting that aside, I would have greater aspirations than a kind of successful D3 coach. Has that approach really worked out for us?

If they take the L today, how short is Shermans leash? I really wish Coaches would retire when they know the game has passed them by and they don't learn/teach the kids like they should.

Another L for the team! They just cant get it going this year

My problem with last night is Sherm is the pitching.

Silan threw 105 yesterday and 49 on March 1 & Schaible threw 32 yesterday and 41 on 03.02 and 3 on 03.03.

I almost have to wonder why they start baseball so early up here in the East.

Why haven't senior Cole Benjamin, who pitched from time to time last year, and Tyer Juhl, who started some games at Old Dominion last year, played at all for the FBH this year?

In high school, in New Jersey, I pitched seven innings every Tuesday and Friday, as our other starter broke his leg, so I had to pick up the slack. My arm and body became conditioned and it was no problem at all. It is all about how you are trained and also, most importantly, not trying to throw 100 mph every pitch. Learn how to pitch, not learn how hard to throw, and there will be fewer arm problems.Nolan Ryan and others never had significant arm issues because they built up arm strength by throwing lots of pitches and lots of innings. Another era.
Slobberknocker, in complete agreement with you. I pitched in the 80's and threw over 100 pitches many times, and actually threw complete games in my first 2 starts one year. I believe it took my body more time to get in shape to handle 9 innings than it did my arm.

Tommy John surgery is happening everywhere, not only at UD, but at colleges, the pros, and also at the high school level. Delaware has had a few guys that came here already having had TJ. I know these guys today are in very good physical shape, I think it has more to do with throwing hard.

dovetail, Unless the college baseball season was moved to late spring thru summer or summer-fall (both have been suggested and defeated for a number of reasons - players out of school with associated costs, effect on summer leagues, competing against MLB pennant races & WS, post season play would be gearing up in the worst weather of the season if late summer-fall vs. in some of the best weather under current set-up, warm weather programs oppose) you have to start early in order to complete conference tourneys by mid-May and have NCAA tourney play thru CWS from late May thru mid-June. Of course, you could significantly reduce the number of games in a regular season (currently about 56 games), but i don't know anyone who wants to do that.

Another game and another L! 7 good/great innings by B Walt just to have the pen blow it.

This team has so many questions as to why and no true consistency with the lineup. I know injuries are part of it but they haven't had the same starting 8 this year. Championship teams like FSU and LSU etc have the same starting 8 90-95% of their games especially early on.

The arms Sherman is turning to out of the Pen have been awful and getting hit around - like someone else said where is Benjamin or Ryan or someone like Juhl.
