#21 Rutgers and #14 St. Joe's are the next two up- both on the road.

After that, Cal and #5 Princeton - both at home- before starting the conference schedule. #3 UConn lurks a bit farther into the schedule.

This set of games are all really important for at-large hopes.

#9 Hens beat #21 Rutgers 1-0 at Rutgers. Hens are off to a terrific start (5-0) and have now beaten three ranked teams. Up next #14 St. Joseph on the road.

Rolf is the best coach in Newark, hands down (and it’s not even close)... I hope CR takes care of him.

Since you went Steely Dan and the year is 2019, I think our theme should be Hey 19.

St. Joe’s gets the 4-2 win... and was up 4-0. Hawks came into the game unbeaten and #15, so no shame in this loss.

Hens had a tough 1-0 loss to Princeton... now need to start putting some wins together. Up against RPI #23 Richmond this afternoon and then a CAA game against Northeastern Sunday.

With that win today, and a women's soccer win at W&M, UD is 28-14-2 overall in fall sports. Certainly the best start to a sports year that I can recall.

The turnaround in WSOC and Volleyball are particularly notable.

Go Hens!

What’s even more encouraging is the positive contribution of a number of young players on the women’s soccer, volleyball, and field hockey teams. We are definitely heading in the right direction. I expect we will do well in women’s basketball this year as well and should challenge for the CAA conference title.

Soccer (8-5, 3-1 in CAA)

Claudia Benz (Fr) (4 points)
Anna Diffendal (RFr) (4 points)
Sara D’Appolonia (So) (4 points)
Gabby Johnson (RFr) (2 points)
Kamryn Stablein (So) (CAA defensive player of week) (10 career shut outs) (already top 10 in program history)

Volleyball (11-4, 3-1 in CAA)

Ezgi Basaranlar (Fr) (65 points) (2 time CAA rookie of week)
Lani Mason (Fr) (202.5 points) (CAA rookie of week)
Adelina Rivera (RFr) (108 points)
Ayala Plummer (Fr) (52 points)
Lauryn Richardson (Fr) (17 points)

Field Hockey (8-2, 1-0 in CAA) (No. 11 national ranking)

Ashlyn Carr (Fr) (12 points)
Grace Hoepfner (So) (5 points)
Kate Gourley (Fr) (3 points)
Bo Van Hunnik (So) (3 points)
Grace Miller (So) (2 points)

The future looks bright for these programs.

Carr is from Delmar and is going to be an absolute monster these next few years. Rolf also has a few more Delmar girls committed here in the next upcoming classes. Not a bad program to get a pipeline going.
