2019 Women's Soccer

Post by Scott » Sun Sep 22, 2019 3:40 pm

The Hens now stand at 5-4 after an OT win at home in vs Seton Hall.

Included in that record is an OT loss to then #13 Rutgers.

I watched parts of the 2nd half of today's game and the Hens dominated before finally scoring the game winner in the final minute of the 2nd OT.

It seems like Coach B has the program moving in the right direction!

Hens beat Northeastern 2-1 in overtime. They are now 9-5, and 4-1 in the CAA. With the victory, the Hens have the highest single-season total since 2013 and the highest number of wins in the CAA since 2011.

Impressive win by the Hens over a good Elon team (2-0). Hens outshot Elon 22 to 11 with 10 shots on goal compared to 3 shots on goal for Elon. Hens leap over Elon into 3rd place. They play second place UNCW in the final regular season match with an opportunity to finish in second place with a win. Hens are now 11-6 overall and 6-2 in the CAA.

I was able to be there to watch the second half. This is talented, fun to watch group. If they can defeat UNCW on Sunday, they will be able to play at home in the semi's.

The Hens defeated UNCW 3-2 in OT this afternoon.

The Hens led 1-0 at the end of the 1st half and took a 2-0 lead early in the 2nd half but UNCW dominated the rest of the 2nd half and tied the game at 2 with approx 1:30 remaining.

Sara D'Appalonia scored an unassisted goal from the top right of the penalty area to win it!

Considering that they lost a 2-0 lead, things looked bleak as a win was needed to clinch a first round bye and a home game in the semis. A tie would have meant playing a qfinal game. Not hanging their heads and getting the win showed lots of heart.

Another big win for the Hens (12-6, 7-2 in CAA, 2nd place finish in CAA). Team is young too.

A very entertaining game. They host the winner of JMU-UNCW next Sunday at 1:00. A win there, and they will be in the finals.

This team plays with a passion that is missing elsewhere in our athletic department.

Hey hound dog  spot on. It is now obvious that you are feeling the effects of our sad football program/hc. I empathize with you and have been quietly suffering about DR's competence to lead our Blue Hens. The final straw was the Elon game and now the sh*t continues.

Now back on task here!! don't forget the field hockey team having another outstanding season under A+ super head coach. His continued success proves that quality coaching matters, and it is not x's and o', but a winning personality and ability to motivate his players. Hats off to both women's sports. 8.

Keep winning Lady Hens good luck
Keep the faith kick butt go Hens

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Sara D’Appolonia, Delaware
Sophomore | Forward | Yarmouth, Maine/Yarmouth
D’Appolonia helped the Blue Hens to a 2-0 week with a goal and two assists en route to Delaware locking up the first-ever #2 seed in program history. She had a hand in three of Delaware's five goals, including scoring the game-winner in overtime against UNCW to lock up the second seed.

Sara is a very athletic performer. Hopefully the weather will be good on Sunday, as I want to be there for the 1:00 semifinal.

Lost after giving up a goal late in the game and a goal with 7 seconds left in the first OT. A terrific season for the ladies.
