2020 MLB and Phillies thread

Post by Caribbean Hen » Mon Aug 24, 2020 9:21 pm

I think if this thread can stay on topic it will have a chance to survive

24 games into a 60 game season and the Phils are in last at 10-14

I'm sorry but this team is better than that, maybe last nights dramatic win will get them going

We have seen Spencer Howard, he looks like he needs some more time in the minors or the camp but you can see his potential but probably not gonna
help much this year, we will see

Alex Bohm should never play below the majors again, he is a bright spot, a rookie who already knows how to hit the ball the other way....

recent trade with the Bosox brings over 2 much needed relief pitchers, Workman has been shaky but I'll take him for now over Nervous Naris an Hembree is better than those bumbs they had pitching in the bullpen a few weeks ago, how low can you go.... :D

anyway, only 4 games back as we approach the hypothetical All Star break or mid way point... the dog days of August are almost over and now September is approaching

Phils are going to have to reach down and get into this extended playoff field, I think they will

Thanks for starting this up Caribe. Joe C would be going crazy right now. Let's get the Bullpen squared away eh. Season is almost half over!

Yeah John this thread could use a little Joe C Right...

By hook or by crook baby

Are you kidding me

I am livid Big Wheel

Huh

And a whole lot more

Anyway the Phillies have managed to win three in a row with the new look bullpen

Workman is a scary mess but somehow he’s gotten it done the last two games

Maybe just maybe the computer boy pulled off a good trade?

Let’s see Spencer Howard breakthrough and have a game he’s capable of having

Even Hoskins is starting to hit

What could go wrong

Oh yeah the Braves swept the Yankees yesterday
Ian Anderson finally makes his debut And goes six innings Only gives up 1 Hit and a run with 6 strikeouts

Sixto Sanchez also finally called up by the Marlins and has a pretty impressive debut in his own right, Sixto was Joe’s boy to

I thought with a relatively easy early schedule that the Phillies would be about 5 games over .500 at this point. JT Reamulto is my team MVP so far. It's great watching baseball again though.

I totally agree on your MVP so far pick John, JT is doing what they paid him to do and more ... and he better because Sixto Sanchez is off to a sensational start for the Marlins, only 2 starts in though, but he looks good.

the trade with the Redsox is looking like a pretty good trade right now, Phils up the streak to 5 in a row with another win over the problematic Braves pitching staff yesterday

Big question for this streaky team is where do they go from here, the had lost 5 straight just prior to this streak... but now they have stabilized the pen and Bryce is calling for at least one more trade before the deadline tomorrow... and why not.... baseball is an open season, almost anyone can get hot an steal a World Series this year

Good to see Hoskins heating up some. Need him to power it up some more. Season is more than half over. Time to make a move.

The Braves, with starting pitching in shambles made a trade today and pick up crafty lefty Vet Tommy Milone from the Orioles, and he will be making the start tonight for Atlanta

This is a pretty big game as it would be huge for the Phils to sweep the Braves

Zack Wheeler proving to be a great pickup. The BPen still scares me but Hoskins is heating up and its good to see them stringing Wins together.

Yes Indeed HJ

Hoskins was a concern coming in after last season and got off to a very slow start, but despite that he didn’t seem to get too down on himself and kept his head straight and now he is turning into the tremendous asset he was in his rookie season

Now they just need to keep Harper from going into a funk

Nice mix of classy Vets like Cutch and Bruce and JT with the younger guys like Bohm and Quinn learning

Phillies just might make Some noise this post season!

Arrieta gets the win last night.

9-1 in the last 10 games

What was it that Dave Cash said? "Yes we can" !!

As coach said, those games against the Marlins coming up are huge.

Phils deserve our attention , no more slop!.....

All comes down to this weekend. A 7 game series. Phils have really struggled against the Marlins the last two years. Phils must take at least 4, but really need to take 5 out of the 7.

Arrieta goes tonight.

They have a chance to do some good things but need Arietta to start being more consistent and earn some of those big $$ Joe hated giving him. I am hoping Bryce and Gregorious start carrying us some here. Need 5 of 7 like you said Coach but at least 4 of 7.

Wow 7 game series

Never heard that one before unless its post season

Might want to srart warming up Coach

Both teams will be looking for fresh arms by Sunday not to mention Monday

Marlins are pesky this year

5 of 7 will be tough

If you can just win four out of seven that means seven games off the schedule and the Marlins are down one game

But 5 of 7 would drown the fish
