Chicago Sun-Times article...

Matt Nagy got the top bunk and Mike Cecere the bottom.

The two had met on their official recruiting visit to Delaware and had become fast friends. Nagy was a strong-armed, if slow-footed, quarterback from Pennsylvania; Cecere was a stud defensive lineman from New Jersey.

The two would live together for five years, starting as redshirt freshmen in 1997 and through their star turns. The Blue Hens made the Football Championship Subdivision semifinals in 2000, Nagy rewrote their passing records and Cecere became their first player to be named All-Atlantic 10.

So there might be no better person than Cecere to answer the question Bears fans spent Monday asking after general manager Ryan Pace christened Nagy the 16th coach in franchise history: Who, exactly, is Nagy?

Good times!

Another former Hen (actually...Hens) making news and getting national acclaim.

Best of luck to Nagy!
Tubby, 1983-1993: 76-49, 2 losing seasons, 5 playoffs, 2 early first round exits, 2 quarters exits and a semifinal loss.

Keeler, 2002-2012: 86-52, 3 losing seasons, 4 playoffs, a quarters exit, 2 championship game losses, 1 national title.

Nagy has his work cut out for him in trying to turn around that long foundering franchise.

Former Bears and current ESPN radio host Tom Waddle said on Golic & Wingo that Nagys announcement and press conference have been very well received.

It's the NFL, you can turn teams around pretty quickly with the right people. They have a QB already, they have a good running game, and they actually have a pretty decent defense. Those are pretty good blocks to build on. Rams went worst to first in one year with just basically a new coach. If Nagy has the stuff to be a winning coach in this league, we'll find out soon enough.

What's your definition of quickly? John Fox couldn't do it in 3 full seasons. The "right" people is more the issue as you stated. Now that they have their supposed QB, Matt may be in for some good years ahead. Good luck to him.

Bears announced hiring of Mark Helfrich (succeeded Kelly at Oregon) as OC, Chris Tabor as STC and also announced Vic Fangio ist staying as DC. As a lifelong Bears fan, the best week of hires since Papa Bears was alive.
