Apparently not a surprise to you, but it is news to those of us not as connected. Any opinion on the hire?

BlueHenBill- Can't say I have an opinion about Yahner. I'm not much for over analyzing the situation. This season will tell us a lot about Danny & his staff's abilities to motivate and grow the young talent. . Last year was a flop and I'm eager to see what the pressure on the staff produces.

Cosh's departure was a surprise to everyone I know and I think it sends a message that Coach Rocco is willing to make whatever changes are needed within his control to win. That I really like.

Yahner was the California JC coach who connected DE Branden Hall to Delaware. Then he moved on to Lafayette, he has Penn St and UVA connections. I'm sure he was well known to Rocco for a while.

The thing that I don’t understand is why does it take “pressure” to motivate Rocco to win

I wish he would’ve felt some pressure from day one

Carrib- The guys a winner. His record says that and losing is something the man has never experienced as a head coach until last season.

I'm not sure that changes his already intense motivation but certainly he has to question the causes of his 2019 failure.

Our OC & DC have both recently been replaced which tells me he is searching for the right answers and looking for positive change.

Ambrose was an upgrade from where I sit and hopefully we'll soon see one on D.

These are certainly positive signs and it's a given UD can get a very strong D coordinator here.

I think everyone can agree, it's beyond comprehension this program hasn't reached eight wins in a season since 2010.

Let's get this right coach!

HZ, Sure Ambrose was an upgrade but brings up the question of why did Rocco even hire that that Living in the past offensive coordinator he brought in to start his tenure? A younger more creative coach is what we needed

Cosh inherited a lot of talent on defense and in my humble opinion he wasted it big time!

That’s been my point on Rocco since day one

he had the defense to win immediately but he did nothing to upgrade the offense

nothing!

Wait a minute ...he benched two running back’s and brought in another one that wasn’t any better

But you’re right, he’s won everywhere he’s been so how can he lose at Delaware?

Although I don’t like him, I’m pulling for him to get things turned around next year but if he doesn’t he needs to be driven to the Maryland State line and given a slice of Grotto and sent on his way

In my opinion the best pressure is that which comes from our own inner drive rather than imposed from others. I think that Coach Rocco is finally making the all the right moves.

Please turn the offense over to Ambrose and turn the defense over to a young DC and allow them to play aggressive exciting football that will encourage fans to attend. Systems that young men enjoy playing in.

Facility upgrades and top recruiting classes will mean little in the same boring system. I believe we are starting to see the petal being pushed to the metal by Coach Rocco.

I see an exciting season on the way.

CH, you surely aren't alone in your opinion. Danny got off to a bad start trying to snow fans about JW at QB. The results were predictable.

And yeah, the usual's rally around a coach who has accumulated a 19-16 "winning" record at UD with a declining record each season and zero playoff wins.

Finally, part of the "right answer" is play aggressive, exciting football. But as Danny has reminded us, "he is still the HC", so we'll see what happens this year.

I would agree. Rocco certainly backed himself into a tight corner during his time here. His first OC hire was abysmal and took two years to fire. I still like Ambrose. It took him 3 years to get rid of Cosh. He didn't even do it at the end of the season-did it after commitment days and about a month before spring ball. Being stubborn seems to. be an overwhelming trait of Rocco's. Another example of that was his handling of the QB position. He also seems to have a "loyalty obsession". I thought you played the best player you had at every position. Before I take a beating from you know who, understand that all I want is to see improvement to a winning record and playoffs as well as a win against Nova. If Rocco does it, GREAT. Time for him to show us why he was hired or move on.

To me, this hire is another buddy hire.

Time for Rocco to step outside the box & get better support staff.
