JMU

Postby jd of de on Fri Jan 12, 2018 10:46 am

As I was looking at Saturday's game, JMU 's 0-5 CAA record is a tad deceiving ... in their last three games they lost in OT at Hofstra and blew a lead last night only to lose to W&M in OT in Williamsburg.

... Lost to Northeastern
... Lost to William & Mary
... Lost at Hofstra in OT
... Lost at Northeastern
... Lost at William & Mary in OT

It would be nice to get this one with tough road games at Hofsta & Northeastern next week and it would be nice to get Cushing back in time for the rematch with Charleston in the BOB on 1/25.

That all said, the Hens are really making great strides and the staff is doing a fantastic job managing these games with only 7 scholarship players.

Mentioned on the Drexel thread but I just do not have a good feeling about this game. Win against a rival last night, long day of travel today, and still just 7 guys for tomorrow. I’d be pleasantly surprised with a W.

JMU choked big time against William and Mary last night, blowing a 9 point lead with less than a minute left. They’re very young like we are.

Mike I believe JMU had a 45-29 lead in the first half. That will happen to young teams. Just like the TTP guys!

Hoping they are still down from that and we can take advantage!

While my eyeballs with be preoccupied during this timeframe, I’m still curious how this game will play out. JMU is without a doubt much better than their 0-5 CAA record. At some point our limited depth has to catch up with us and I think today’s game may be that day. The Saturday afternoon road game following a Thursday night home game with travel involved isn’t easy. You are pretty much getting up on Friday and making the 5 hour trip to JMU. Ken Pom has UD ranked 242 whereas JMU is 250 even with their record indicating these teams are more similar than different. UD has benefited from winning vs the bottom CAA teams, whereas JMU, due to weird scheduling, has already played WM and NE twice. Hopefully our young guys can continue to grow and make enough shots to win. Getting a win today would start this 3 game road trip the right way.

As tired as their legs looked in that final 5 minutes of Thursday's game, I'd be a miracle if they could dig deep enough to grab this one. Got my fingers crossed.

A conference road win is always sweet no matter what. Very strange game though. Refs called it very ticky tac all day, no flow or rhythm developed as a result. Awkward game to watch but a W is a W.

Not pretty but I’ll will take the road conference win. These are games we used to lose regularly.
