No where near our best game inside.....not even close. I would call it subpar being out scored in the paint 30-54. We need Painter to step up more in a game of this caliber.

That being said, I was very happy with the overall effort. We can learn from this loss and it will help us down the stretch. It was a classic battle of player of the year candidates Darling and Knight. I wish I could have made it down there for this battle. Classic

we played far, far from our best game and lost a road CAA by 4 ... a teachable moment heading into a big, big home stand.
Yup. Hope we see them again in DC. Very hard to beat a team three times

Hard to win a game on the road of that intensity when you only have one guy stepping up. We will need someone to help Nate the rest of the way. He's very good, but he can't win these kinds of games all by himself. Too bad, because this was a game that could have been had.
Agreed. I keep waiting for Allen to get out of his shooting funk. Biggest problem remains: we need to fix the defense. Let’s win these next two home games.
Hens90,

I agree. I just don’t understand the regression of Allen from his freshman season. His 3pt% is trending in the wrong direction from his freshman year - from 39%, to 37%, to 33% this season. We are going to need his production if we have any hopes of winning a championship, IMO. In the game today he was 25% from 3, 20% from the field in 38 minutes. Not going to do it because Darling can’t do it all by himself.

Tough loss, but a teachable moment as has been mentioned. They will learn from this. Can’t complain about a road split in the CAA. That being said, it’s no easy task going 2-0 against Hofstra and Northeastern, even at home. The Hens will have a tough 4 games to close out the season. I’d be happy with 2-2 to be honest. Keep the momentum up as we head into March!

The Tribe are just a bad matchup for us with their size and athleticism inside. We’ll need Painter to play much better defensively. He’s way too quick to get off his feet, often leaving himself out of position. He just needs to hold his ground and play smart, hard defense. And Mutts needs to control his emotions. He continues to make too many dumb fouls. They certainly are beatable, but we will need more help inside if we meet them again in the CAA Tourney.

Still hoping we’ll see Ryan Allen get out of this shooting funk. It just puts way too much pressure on Nate if we can’t find someone else who can consistently hit from the outside. Now let’s regroup and finish strong. These next 3 games are all going to be battles. Really need to find a way to get 2 out of the next 3 before closing out the season against UNCW.

Until we can defend in the post against Knight, I don't want to see W&M until the Championship game. In 2 games this season Knights stats are:

FG ... 18-37 (48.6%)
FT ... 19-25 (76.0%)
Points ... 29.0 average
Rebounds ... 13.0 average
36.7% of W&M points

Wouldn't W & M's overall (not just Knight's) success in the paint suggest that maybe UD should play more zone vs. W & M?

Bill....you make a good point. We did go zone and went on a run...for some reason MI went back to man and they pulled away.

Painter is getting eaten alive.
I have to think he's not 100%
No, Right now He is without a doubt, our worst interior defender. That is indisputable
You now see why He's not on the floor a lot during the closing moments of ball games.

I thank my late father for the one of the very 1st basketball lessons he taught me: "Son, you want to be on the floor in the 4th quarter? You need to do 2 things, 1) Play Defense and 2) Make your FT's." Thanks dad!!!!!!!
Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard enough!!!!
