Nice article on the current situation and next year.
3 players, not related, from the same HS team has to be unique.

This team has a chance to be special next year. But to me, the best possible scenario would be a grad transfer who can be an enforcer down low. We don't need a double/double guy, but someone who could come in off the bench, and round bound and play really solid low post defense...a Josh Brinkley guy would be ideal. We lacked a bit of toughness at times in the paint the paint this past year, and if we truly want next year to be extraordinary, that’s the one area that I have concerns about.

CAA related for next season. Elon picks up a really nice commit in 6'5 SF JaDun Michael. 3 star recruit with some high level offers.

Joe Lunardi came out with his first bracketology for next season. Hens get automatic bid out of the CAA and end up as the 15 seed in the East.

15 seed is really bad. The CAA needs to get its auto winner in the 12/13 range. Beating a 2 seed (top 5-8 team) is pretty hard but beating a 4 or 5 seed (top 15-20) happens every year. A solid OOC schedule with some wins will put us in position to be a 12 or 13 seed.

If Mutts leaves, we still have 10 scholarship players going into the season.

If MI does not bring in another player, our frontcourt is:
Painter
Novakovich
Carr

The bad news is 1 guy has limited experience and 1 guy is a freshman
The good news is we have a deep back court (assuming Darling is back).

Does MI go small ball? Painter, Darling, Allen, Anderson, Gardner/McCoy?

Hofstra won the CAA last year playing 4 guards/1 big. All 5 starters avg 30 mpg or more. What helped Hofstra was having good rebounding guards.

I share the concern about the frontcourt. If anyone gets in foul trouble, it could lead to real problems. Still hoping for a transfer.

I have already been told by one mid-major coach that his administration has told them that they are not allowed to travel via plane this season.

Nice little summer workout video showing Carr and Arletti. Carr has some really nice moves and ballhandling for a big man. Arletti is an intriguing propsect, 6'6 PG. Appears he has bulked up as well from previous videos during his senior season.

Nice! They both look great. Thanks for sharing this Dave. I agree with your comments about Arletti. We have a pretty good precedent with Kevin Anderson's in that his length as a 6'5" PG has been helpful from a match up standpoint at times.

Any sense for how athletic Arletti is? I"m wondering about his ability to defend the perimeter against smaller and quick opponents?

Good thought, I think He's a little more athletic than most think. But in MI's scheme of his back court not having defined roles. Arletti could very well be the PG but on offense but on the defensive side of things could match up more favorably on a wing? Perhaps Allen, Gardiner and if he develops, Ebby would be great for that smaller quicker player defensively. IMHO

Let's assume there is a season. With Darling,Allen,Anderson and Gardiner, can we agree those get the majority of back court minutes. I am only using any kind of 4 guard offense for extreme cases. That leaves McCoy, Ebby and Arletti in the back court. Does 1 redshirt? I say definitely if Ochafu is eligible. I think Ebby would benefit the most from one. Arletti seems to be more polished at this point??

Now assuming Ochafu can play, that leaves 4 bigs, Painter, Ochafu, Novakovich and Carr. Painter is the one given. And I like Carr and Novakovich. Here's where I go off script.....Carr starts. As long as He can defend, asking a lot, but I like Ochafu as a vet big off the bench and in the 2nd half, you can play him and Painter if needed ,provided they are best D options??? Playing with the upperclassmen pays big time benefits for Carr moving forward.
And again there needs to be some time for Novakovich, He has good foot work defensively and he can shoot, needs to start producing.

In watching the video that Dave posted(thx), Carr reminded me of a former Hen great. Can you name them?

Felt good to talk hoops!!!
