Ivy League tournament

Cancelled due to corona. Yale gets auto bid. I wonder how the other schools feel.

Both conference basketball tournaments and spring football practices have been canceled.

No Princeton or Columbia students will return to campus after spring break and will finish the semester on-line from their homes. Harvard considering the same.

No mention in the story I read about foreign students.

So the IVY league is not allowing a conf tournament but will allow Yale to travel and play in the NCAA tournament?

Seems to contradict itself

Feel bad for the seniors on the other 3 teams who's careers came to an abrupt end. I guess playing the games in an empty arena was not an option.

Harvard closed for the semester. West Chester just did the same today. Delaware meeting on that same subject in next 24 hours. UD told the DIAA today they would not allow the state hoops championships to be played at the Bob this year.

Multiple PA school districts shut down. The MAC tournament to be played without general public fans. The state of Ohio decision has a major effect on March Madness - games in Dayton and Cleveland can’t go on as normally scheduled....stay tuned
Delaware Football - time to make things happen or it’s time for changes.....

Yup, things are snowballing now. No one's going to want to buck the trend and say we're going to play or we're going to still hold this event, and then risk the backlash of being tied to anyone potentially getting sick or even dying. The risk for most people is exceedingly low, but the risk of bad press or even lawsuits should someone get sick is way too high. Colleges generally have it easy, most schools only had up to 2 months left, and they can throw something together online to make it work. Heck, local school districts are basically cobbling together online stuff for potentially closing their doors for a few weeks too. The easy decision now is to cancel things and/or close them to fans. Expect a lot more in the next 24 hours.

Glad this thread on the impacts of corona hasn't been taken down. And it is not even related to UD like the previous one. I guess something changed since last week?

This is awful. They should have played in an empty gym if they had issues. One of my former players is a Sr at Harvard, who missed the Sr day weekend to heal an injury for the Ivy tournament and woke up yesterday and his career was over. Its an awful move. The Srs involved should be granted a 5th year. These kids are excellent kids and students who actually pay tuition. They should be given the chance to grad transfer and pursue an opportunity to play in the NCAA tournament

for one game really. Let them play one game next week if they want. That makes no sense. I am not insensitive, but it is only one game. He was injured anyway. They should do a make up senior day with an intersquade game. It is not fare to all the other seniors in the country.

you can always tell the guys that never played. Your 2 games away from the NCAA tournament and you say screw him, just mov on. The kid started 25 games and was resting an ankle. not injured. We give ppl extra years all the time. How could a something completely out of their control not warrant a waiver? As for all the other srs, their conference tournament didn't get canceled so their opportunity wasn't effected. Your talking 3 teams in the entire country
