UNCW picks up St. John’s transfer Ian Steere. Former 4 star recruit. Started his collegiate career at NC State playing only one game before transferring to St Johns. Only played in 6 games last year after becoming eligible after the first semester. Was suspended indefinitely in February.

Hasn’t done much at st Johns or Ncstate but good size which UNCW needs.

2 other players entered the transfer portal with Hen connections.

Ricky Lingo, 6’8 f from Terps, played for DC Premier where McCrae coached.

Evan Buckley, 6’1 pg from Duquesne. We were in his final 4 I believe.

Both players would sit a year.

Would love to get Lingo. Thought about Buckley as well then read this. Looks like he has decided to stop playing.

James Karnik 6'9" Center from Lehigh is 'the portal and looks like his game is about' the same as Painters. Sit one, play one I think.

Delaware has reached out to Penn grad transfer Ryan Betley. 6'5 guard frm Downington, PA. Avg 12.8 pts for career and 38% from 3.

6 CAA schools are showing interest plus a slew of majors

Saw an interesting stat. 14 mid major grad transfer players who avg double digits scoring during the 18/19 season and transferred up. None avg double digits last year.
Wonder about this. Hens are already stacked at guard. Does this signal someone leaving?
Between the offer to the high school recruit and now this, who knows, could imply something. There is a player on our team who avg 20 pts/game and has been in college for 4 years now(may be in line to graduate this spring) and would be gobbled up by major teams. Hopefully that will not happen but would be a real kick in the nuts
Underclassmen can declare for draft, sign with an NCAA approved agent and still retain their eligibility.

Hens along with about 15 other schools have reached out to American transfer Mark Gasperini, 6'10 245 C from American. Avg 10.5 pts and 5 boards over 3 seasons. I believe he is a grad transfer. Doesn't seem to be very athletic but has good size and nice post moves.

Wake and Marquette seem to be the cream of the crop of schools reaching out.

Bill Phillips and Mark both follow each other on twitter.

IMHO there may be significantly fewer transfers this year than last. The coronovirus restrictions prevent coaches and prospective transfers from meeting face-to-face and campus visits.

UPDATE: Thursday April 2, 615 have entered the transfer portal. FYI

That’s roughly 14% - 15% of all scholarship players and exactly 1.77 players per DIV-I basketball program.

We will see if a significantly lower percentage and/or number of transfers actually end up in a different college program compared to last year.

2 grad transfers with previous hen offers.

James ‘Monty’ Scott from Temple. Grad transfer. 6’5 wing guard. Delaware offered out of high school. Played at Kenn. St, where he was all rookie team then blew up avg 17 as a soph. Transferred to temple where he avg 7 pts on poor shooting.

Damion Mintz, 6'3 guard from Creighton. Avg 10 pts during his junior year but had a medical RS last year due to injury

Do you think Nate Darling will transfer before testing the draft?

My guess for him is that he grad transfers to a bigger school this summer to get more of the spotlight. Shame he couldn't get Delaware into the tournament where he could have garnered some name recognition.

he is not going to transfer. Why would suggest such a thing. He knows what kind of
team is coming back next year and he will shine. Not a good post from you . So you
think every great play that we have , will always transfer out. You area very wrong
this time. Show me proof that he wants to transfer out. He loves playing with these
guys and know next year is going to be a great year period.

Nice first post. Would it surprise me, no, because nothing in regards to transfers surprises me anymore. Do I think he will transfer? No. I think it’s much more likely he enters the draft process.
