New Coaches in CAA

Post by mpwerrell » Fri Mar 20, 2020 4:59 pm

For what it’s worth, UNCW last week hired Takayo Siddle as their new hoops coach. Siddle has worked for his mentor Kevin Keats at NC State and UNCW.

JMU is considering Georgia St HC Mike Byington after Furman HC Bob Richey removed himself from consideration. Mike Jones HC at Redford was considered the early favorite. Another handful of mid major head coaches have been named as possibilities including App St coach Dustin Kerns and FIU’s Jeremy Ballard.

Richeys interview didn’t go well I presume. The possibility must be considered JMU isn’t willing to fund their basketball program to the level they did under Brady.

I look to UNCW to come roaring back; they made a solid hire. That said I did love what the interim HC was able to do with his kids.

That theory was shot to hell   Byington was making $300k at Georgia Southerm with a $18k bonus for finishing 3rd, $24k for 2nd and $30k for 1st. The extension he signed last spring when he was rumored to be interested in the Elon opening was through 2022.

Not CAA related but Pitino has been landing recruits every where since coming on board at Iona. I want to say he has signed 5-6 guys in last week with 2 bigs coming on board today. 6'9 230 Crafood (Phillips was following him on Twitter) who had offers from BC and Mason as well as 7'1 Shema who had multiple P5 offers.

Who wouldn't want their son to play for Pitino?

In WBB, Dillon to Villanova; no big surprise. She’ll be tough for Drexel to replace.

Drexel wastes no time in naming her replacement. Long time associate head coach will move up to the top spot.

The NDSU football route; build it and promote from within.

jd of de, Just in case you misinterpreted my post, I was being sarcastic. No father should want his son to play for Pitino and no college concerned with developing fine young men should hire Pitino. I never ceased to be amazed with the moral compromises made by Catholic schools in pursuit of athletic success.

I agree 100% that was on a path to Nova but 68 is dead on.

She is not a good coach but a great one.

What she was able to do at Drexel was impressive. Other than EDD era, UD was her b!tch!!!!

I agree Dillon is truly a great coach and her players totally bought in to her system.

Her teams were always fun to watch.
