How does the two way contract work? Nate hasn't played for the Hornets and he's not even on the Greensboro Swarm roster. I do see the G league starts in Florida in February.

Looks like Darling has a contract for $79k per this site. If you look up Riller and Knight, they have the same amount.

The two way contract allows NBA teams to carry 17 guys instead of 15 guys. In non covid years, most of the time these two extra guys play the majority of their seasons in the G league and can only be on the NBA roster for up to 45 days, but since they are on a “two way” deal, they can’t be plucked by another team while in the G league. Guys not on 2 way deals in the G league are fair game to be signed by any organization.

So basically, the Sixers have two guys most years on two way deals. They spend the majority of their time on the Blue Coats, may get called up if they’re playing well or if there are injuries with the big club. The other 12-13 guys, while playing for the Sixers “minor league” team, can be signed by any franchise in the league as the Sixers do not hold their rights. The two ways get paid I believe that $79k while in the G league, and if called up to the NBA get paid the league minimum.

With covid this year though it is different. Teams are allowed to have those two way guys travel the entire year, and they can be amongst the 15 allowed to be active on game day (usually 13). Nate gets to travel but has not been active yet so far. You could see him on the bench when the Hornets played the Sixers last week. While with the big club, Nate is making a nice salary of $449k this year. If he goes down to the G league when that starts up, which is what I imagine will happen, I believe his salary will go down to that $79k.

It looks like Knight will get paid more. He has played in six games already for the Hawks and stepped up big time in the game against Memphis (14 points in 9 minutes).

Good quote from Knight. Seems W&M prepared him well.

“When it’s time to perform, you don’t rise to the level of the occasion,” Knight said. “You fall to the level of trainings.”
Tubby, 1983-1993: 76-49 (60.8%), 2 losing seasons, 5 playoffs, 2 first round exits, 2 quarters exits and a semifinal loss.

Keeler, 2002-2012: 86-52 (62.3%), 3 losing seasons, 4 playoffs, a quarters exit, 2 championship game losses, 1 national title.
