Well since the Phillies closer is in Houston might as well give Velasquez a shot but I think he's going to come through tonight 10 strikeouts
I've noticed JMU and Nova fans don't seem to like Rocco, this is a good thing..

more like 2 k's for VV, but a quality start.... Franco fails to drive in runner on 3B with one out in 8th, strikeouts on breaking ball way out of the zone.... you have to wonder if it's gonna click for him in Philly..... I still believe he could take off in the right situation....
Tommy Joseph at 1B is not going to cut it either, need a basher in the bandbox not a slasher

Phillies will be looking at 90 plus losses.... wake me up when they make the call to the farm

meanwhile I'll be following the Mickster and Sixto

C, hopefully you will be watching as both were lifted early yesterday....It appears Sixto threw 94 pitches in 4.2 so that makes sense. The Mickster, I don't know why.
Franco hitting a buck 48 and is 0 for 20 something on the road trip...How about the Mets intentional walking Herara to get to Franco....

Hoskins lying in wait...

Joe, I did see where Mickster only had 1 ab yesterday, hopefully nothing serious

Braves first round pick a big righty out of hs has looked good in his first 3 starts in the Sally league

Check out Ian Anderson stats
However the second pick, Joey Wentz a lefty has struggled

Gowdy? Extended spring ?

Nice win last night for sure against a nemesis... Hellikson was fantastic.. Lifted an inning early but the pen held on... We need a 3 hole hitter C... Middleton was very upset over the base running by Galvis and even sent a message to Computer boy about it... He once again stated that we will spend money....So let it be written so let it be done....Show me!!!! Franco needs to be better but despite his slow start he is 6th in the league in exit velocity.... They play good defense.. Alherr so far is making the most of his opportunity....Play the youth.....Valentin may be here shortly...Quinn is struggling and if not may already be here... We need more from Saunders, Rupp and Joseph....

Hellickson is the pitcher VV should be Learning from, you dont have to power your way to outs, let the batter get kimself out.
The Braves would be fine if the played the Padres all year, Dansby is struggling and might be sent down

Albies is lurking in AAA

Three hole hitter Joe? No excuse not to have one especially in that ballpark

Moniak caught his finger on the catcher sliding into home. X Rays negative and will be back in the lineup tomorrow.

Solid pitching performances throughout the organization yesterday. Eflin with 7 innings of one run ball. He's not going to overpower anyone but his sinker really generates weak contact. Top three affiliates all posted shutouts. Thompson with 7 innings 7 ks.

Alfaro is knocking on the door.

Looks like Thompson one of those guys that needs a few starts. Started off last year not quite as bad but very unimpressive. By June, he was the best pitcher in AAA.

In the minority, they are doing it right. Hoping this is a bit of a break out for Alther, I like him

I'd imagine it's Pivetta time.

It also matches up with his next start for Lehigh... makes sense, not to mention his 0.95 era.. He is a big dude..

Maybe we will be able to thank Paps once again...

Not a good sign for Nola going to the DL twice by age 23. What is it with these kids that are always hurt?

But according to MM at the NJ though, this gives the Phillies another opportunity to "assess how a prospect (Pivetta) preforms in the majors" which is "just as important as on-field record this year". And regarding prospects, I saw Thompson last year and he looked ok. I doubt if he will ever be a top of the rotation starter in MLB.

This recent article from MM comes off the gem off an article, complete with multiple quotes from computer boy about "be patient" with Crawford and his sub .100 BA in AAA. I wonder when he will get to the majors to be "assessed'.

When does this rebuild end and the Phillies tell the fans they really want to compete and show it by bringing in more guys that can play?

only team besides Mets and Nats that have a chance are the Dodgers... Lets see them unleash Julio Urias and call up Bellinger to send the aging cranky Adrian Gonzalez off to be the manager of the Mexican team...

The Giants somehow find ways to win games but I think they take a step back this year, at some point you need some bats

Bellinger gets the call, Julio Urias right behind him
