Phillies 2019

Post by Hens79 » Wed Apr 10, 2019 8:25 am

Need a new thread.

Paging Kimbrel. Get it done. I think the rest of the pen will sort itself out and be okay if there is a stud closer.

Good idea Carl....While Nola looked better he is still not ready for prime time...Lets hope Pivetta finds his form tonight..VV looked OK after he shook off nerves..Why does he slow down when a guy gets on base? The human rain delay, Hellickson for Nats tonight....We also can get a starter and VV as closer...They have to make a move...Closer by committee ain't working...Neither is unacceptable defense....Is it time to get Williams some PT? Cutch is striking out at an alarming rate....Cesar is giving us nothing so far....

Win tonight and take the series....

Paging Kimbrel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good win coming off 2 bad losses..Good to see us bunch hits instead of waiting on a 3 run homer....Arrieta looked sharp...Eflin tonight and he looks good...Pivetta needs to step up quick...De La Santos with 7 2 hit shut out innings striking out 9...Cozens and Walding hit bombs but Cozens still striking out way too much..

At Clearwater Requena continues to dazzle with 6 innings of 1 hit ball...striking out 8,,Vierling Notre Dame product continues to hit,,,,Center fielder..

Strike throwing 18 year old Santos goes 5 giving 2 earned striking out 7v no walks for Lakewood..
Eflin tonight and we need him

Phillies 4 man bench has given us nothing....

Ugly loss...Bats go silent. Pitching continues to be an issue...We need pitching....Mets look the team early...Every one is struggling in the pen.....Phillies seem content on waiting..

Lehigh wins a classic 21 18 game,,Suarez gets rocked...Cozens hits 2 bombs but only hitting 200...

Reading...Rosso is really impressive with another gem...Hassley still struggling....

Clearwater...6'10 lefty Young fans 10 in 6t innings....

Lakewood.... 18 year old phenom SS Luis Garcia starting to wake up....

Bad Loss!! It can be summoned up in one word "DEFENSE"...Mets third baseman McNiel makes 2 fantastic plays at third saving 2 runs and we blew a couple of plays that cost us a game...First JT allows a passed ball that cost us a run then Hoskins doesn't make a play and cost us a game...Kruk said his foot work needs polishing..So again I get back to the ridiculous Santana sign...As I said last year it cost Hoskins a year of experience playing first which is where he belongs... He has now cost us 2 games with bad defense....JT so far has been a disappointment both offensively and defensively...He will step up...I agree w Mr C who texted me last night that maybe the newbies (sans Segura) are pressing a bit...I agree with him...

Nola does not look good...Paging Corbin....lol....He had no curve at all his heat was all over the place...He was fidgety on mound very un-Nola like...
He was very frustrated in post game interview and both he and Hoskins manned up and offered no excuses....

It sure was Carl...but how bout that bounce back...It may be costly as Segura strains his hammy and take it from a guy that knows they are a problem...Lets hope it its just a strain...
Well we finally got some payback as the Mets played just horrible defense and I mean bad...They had 4 errors which should have been 6...Lets hope Bryce is OK...Welcome to the party JT....Welcome to the party Eickoff....Darn shame he doesn't have a little more zip to his very average fastball...His curve and slider are fantastic and nasty....They were lauding the game called by JT....He saved the bull pen w his effort....

Phils go for the series win w Jake on the hill at 1...

At Lehigh SS Canelo is playing well and may be a potential call up if Segura goes on injury list..Also and may be another option is veteran Romine...which seems more likely....Rumors of a deal involving Alther are heating up...

At Reading Falter with a nice outing and Laeftwich a left reliever is pitching very well...

At Clearwater...not much happening highly touted pitcher Howard gives up 2 in 4 innings strikes out 7...This is just not a good yteam right now..

At Lakewood./..There is really nothing happening here as this is also a bad team right now..

Pivetta given a huge lead was once again not good.....No snap to his curve couldn't command his fastball...How long do the Phillies wait on him?

Loved it Bill...how do you not root for a kid like this.....He plays the game the right way....Hats off to the Kingsmen...It has to feel good for him...He will be the short today and hope he keeps putting the barrel on the ball...What I have noticed is he is swinging earlier in count attacking the fastball when he gets it....
He ain't going to learn on the bench thats for sure...

Pivetta sent to the minors this morning, Eickhoff to replace him in the rotation.

Great move...They have both earned that distinction....It seems to be a stop gap fix..De La Santos is another option...I wonder now if the Phillies gave Corbin what he wanted..A horrible mistake that may cost this team a division title....A trade has to be coming....A move must be made....

Nola is the concern now...He has looked awful....

Another bad loss...Injuries aren't helping but they are everywhere....Umpire was awful last night but Bryce has to control himself...Arrieta is not happy...You Cannot blame the umpire on the bad defense and bad AB's....
We are not playing good baseball...Simple as that.....

Nice touch by Phillies adding J roll to booth...He was excellent explaining bad play by Cesar was not all his fault....That Gosselin should have let him know to go to first and that Goss has to be at bag and give Cesar a stationary target....

What a mess the last week has been. I know there have been some injuries, but man it has been some bad baseball. Looks a lot like some of the worst times from last year. The Phillies will definitely be in the mix in the division but will likely need another starter and a real closer to get to the post season and make any kind of playoff run.

Hey 79, You know anybody that has been preaching the same.....Horrible baseball...Meanwhile Corbin is pitching great....We had out chance and blew it,,,,

What is really bothering me is....Where is the heart? There is no way no how a reason for the phillies to not charge the mound after the gutless act by the Mets...Incredible......Even Kruk said "Go get him Rhys". And he said it after the first head hunting pitch...The Mets threw 2 at him high including one behind his head....Now the umpires will issue warnings before the game so now we cannot retaliate....The Mets humped the dugout ready to rumble the Phillies did nothing....On the second pitch only JT jumped fence and ready to go....The Phillies then talked about how irate they are, after the game...To late, they needed to back Rhys w fists not word...Rhus should have charged the mound,,,Those pitches were no joke...The Phillies were gutless...

On the farm Howard our top pitching prospect continues to shine on a bad Clearwater team....

We need pitching and now e will have to trade prospects to get one instead of signing one...Big mistake..

The panel on MLB really gave it to Arrieta good for his comments even suggesting he has lost respect in locker room for crying to the media instead of going o Bryce privately...

They say paybacks are a biotch..Hoskins and the Phillies got some last night after the gutless attempt by the Mets at throwing at his head twice in the 9th inning of a blowout the night before....First they drilled Frazier on up and in heat...Then Hoskins hits a homer off Rames and does a 34 second trot around the bases...The longest trot around the bases in MLB this season....John Kruk said
"this aint over" Loved it Stay tuned!!!!

On the farm our top lefty Cole Irvin is pitching lights out dazzling with his 1.14 ERA....We need help...VV continues to pitch well but at at a Hellickson pace...It was driving Kruk nuts..he quipped "if New York is the city that never sleeps then this game will put that to there test".....LOL...VV has to pick it up..He is just throwing to many pitches...He certainly has the stuff...I still think he is our closer...Get Irvin up here and give him a shot....
