Nate Darling
It is a Blue Hen world, and we are just living in it!!!
Re: Nate Darling
Ugh. Best of luck to him. If he makes it, I will be supporting him every game. But ugh
Re: Nate Darling
Forgive me if this has been said/discussed in another thread. But if name is not called and he does not get picked up as an undrafted free agent, can he still play?

Re: Nate Darling
Who is advising these kids??? First Mutts and now Darling??? Nice college players, but neither has any chance of making an NBA roster. Maybe Nate doesn't think we'll be playing this season and has elected to get his pro career started now...overseas, and NOT in the NBA. Poor MI is snake bit...
Re: Nate Darling
Agreed - not good enough for NBA, but hopefully he will graduate this summer.finpxz1 wrote: ↑Sun Aug 02, 2020 9:32 pmWho is advising these kids??? First Mutts and now Darling??? Re: Nate Darling
I would imagine the uncertainty of a season had a lot to do with this decision.
Good luck Nate.

Re: Nate Darling
Not the outcome I wanted or expected but, now that it’s done, I wish him all the best.
It seems this program just can’t get a break. A lot of us have been saying for several years that 20-21 could be a magical season. Not looking so likely at this moment. Heck, we might not even have a season.

Next up!
Reminder - senior guards win championships and we’ve still got two of them.
Re: Nate Darling
I will miss watching Darling play for UD and it is sad to see the that prospects for a great 20-21 season (if there is one) are diminished without him, but the cupboard is not bare. MI and his staff still have a talented roster and the chances that some of the young players will really blossom are quite strong.
Re: Nate Darling
You can make a lot of money overseas. it's not a bad option when comparing to a 9-5er.
I think it tells us a lot about the upcoming season.
Former Newark HS star and Temple star Terrance Stansbury after a few seasons in the NBA went and played in France in the early 90's. At that time, the star of my NCC hoops team was a former Sallies All Stater who became an accountant and his firm handled TS's money. Told me what a great gig it was in France. Practiced everyday but only played 1-2x a week. Season was 40-45 games. Plus you got a meal stipend, an apartment and transportation to use. So He was making 250K a season but basically was sending ALL that money back to the US as he didn't need it to live off of.
I don't think this is the case for all players who go overseas but it's till a very good living.
It's unfortunate and sucks but COVID 19 has turned the world upside down.

Good luck to Nate, and I agree that I just hope we have a season.
As fans, we have to understand that this is the "new normal" .

Re: Nate Darling
Martin must be pissed... I wonder how long he stays in Newark?
I bet he doesn't turn down all the job offers like Brey - I know
if it were me, I'd take the first decent (non mid-major) offer I received!

For sure. The season is in real jeopardy as the virus continues to rage in August.UDPat wrote: ↑Mon Aug 03, 2020 6:22 amTHIS!!!!!!!Udforever1 wrote: ↑Sun Aug 02, 2020 10:32 pmI would imagine the uncertainty of a season had a lot to do with this decision.

Darling will make a lot of money playing professional basketball. It won’t be in the NBA, but Darling is good enough to play in the top international leagues. What he is doing makes perfect sense to me considering the unprecedented times we are living in. Why hang around Newark, DE in limbo when he can get on with the rest of his life.
