I will miss watching Darling play for UD and it is sad to see the that prospects for a great 20-21 season (if there is one) are diminished without him, but the cupboard is not bare. MI and his staff still have a talented roster and the chances that some of the young players will really blossom are quite strong.

Sorry for the tough talk, but not talented or athletic enough for the NBA. Overseas? Well, of the guys who have come through here in the past and done that, he's not quite at their level. He can make it but we shall see.
They have Covid overseas too. College ball may be in jeopardy this year but so would be pro ball there. Sure it's a kid's dream, but if you're going to sit one out why not do it while finishing your education on someone else's dime? Unless he has finished. Not sure.

another zinger. darn, but not surprised with the issues with Covid 19 which might have been significantly lessened with a total shutdown early.
Everything is in flux as there is no certainty of bball this season.

Darn I was really excited that we might have a dynamite team had M and D stayed with the remainder of the returnees and the addition of Carr and others. If we do have a season of some sort, I hope that Carr can handle the additional responsibilities he'll find himself facing. Not a pleasant thought.

I'm still hopeful that MI can bring in a few to solid guys to shore up the team for this or a future season. Darling's firepower will be sorely missed. It's a shame he couldn't wait till the dust clears, but understandable as financial rewards appear to come first. Who's to say that the foreign leagues will be able to continue play without a vaccine ?

As it now stands, UD got only 1 season of collegiate play from M and D. Not a solid investment and unfortunate for MI! He will make a positive statement, but inside he'll be angry as hell about the losses.

add Daly and Horton gone earlier. not positive at all for UD bball's rep at present. Our most talented players are seeking more quality competition to show their stuff in front of large crowds and media attention. Football might be the next sport in jeopardy!

Attempt to "keep the faith" though it's challenging as most news is downright depressing. Maybe a new more competitive era will result from all this damage though..

Not quite at who’s level? Saddler, Threat, Eggerson, Carter? Sure he is. And he is really suited for the international game which isn’t as physical or fast paced. The dude has an unbelievably quick release, professional range and just an overall shooter. He’ll make it in international ball.

And since you brought up COVID, yeah they have it in Europe but nothing like the cluster we have going on over here. The whole EU has a few thousand cases a day compared to our 60 to up to 75K per day recently. Apples to oranges. But they could screw up going forward which would make it apples to apples.

And waiting to finish a degree? That was probably wasn’t close to the top priority.

This was close to a no brainer for Darling with the college season in real jeopardy and his professional prospects.

Think about what the UDMBB program "could have been" with M.I.'s recruiting skills

While I like Darling, I feel he is 1/2 step slow for the NBA. I think he would have a problem in the NBA getting his shot off, consistently. Also, who is he going to guard?

A step back; no doubt. I’d say overall the program is 2 forward and 1 back. Arletti should be getting a lot more minutes now.

This hurts more for a mid-major. Power conference schools lose guys all the time but have the top 100 recruits coming in each year to take their place.

Delaware gets a player like Darling about every 6-8 years. I respect his decision and wish him the best but as a fan of a program, it's hard to feel confident going forward. We keep hearing great things about Andrew Carr, does he add 20 pounds of muscle and leave after his freshman year too? It's his prerogative to do so but it's a kick in the plums as a fan.

Will this impact the staff's recruiting? Are they going to look for the kid who is going to stick around for 4 years and can mold but may not be as talented or does talent trumps all? Hard to build a consistent winner when you got a revolving door.

Completely agree. We only got one season with Nate but I see him as being on par with our all time best players. Pat mentioned Dunkley (11 year professional career). How about this: Harding Nana is 39 and still making a living overseas!!

NBA may be a stretch for Nate despite his NBA range but his game definitely translates well to the top international leagues and he’ll make a nice living doing what he loves.
