I sat with the Commish during lunch (dude ate three large plates of salad!). I asked him why did the CAA expand so much after JMU left. His answer, “stability”.
It looks as though the CAA and the member university presidents are anticipating other teams leaving (my conclusion not his words).
Nice guy, great speaker, and a guy looking toward the future of the CAA (perhaps without UD).
It sounds like Delaware is not alone in the quest to escape the Coastal
Kind of CAA Estate planning by the Commish
recruiting recruiting recruiting...It ain't rocket science....We need better more athletic players...That simple....

Good points and obviously spot on by the commish. The Coastal was purely looking for numbers during expansion, not so much institutions that were 1-to-1 academic matches. No matter what you think of the adds, the conference has done a good job of preparing for inevitable future movement. I'm sure membership understood that UD was bound to be a causality because of the schools that were brought in, both competitively and due to their institutional profiles. It is what it is.
I'm not sure anyone could expect the conference head to not say the football league is the best in the universe. It's his job to sell it, no matter the reality.
I wish the CAA and CAA FB well but hope very much that UD won't be part of it for very much longer. We've already overstayed our welcome.
