mid season check-Women

Post by tenn hen »

skipped tuning in to our W by 15 over hapless Hampton(0-11), but the boxscore revealed the same season issue continuing-21 TO's and poor 3pt shooting(28%). Our only 1(not 2) scheduled game v Stony Brook(11-1) is next. SB is ranked #98(the highest in our conference). W over Columbia(#66) by 12 and a loss to Minnesota(#50) were the SB's only decent/useful opponents for evaluation.

summary- We should clearly finish over .500 with a bunch of cupcakes in the CoastalAA. Might even challenge for the title if we can utilize the individual talent on our roster. On Magic Mystery Tour, the Beatles sang "nothing to write hung/home about "in the song Strawberry Fields Forever. IOW, nothing special or to worry about. though there are many varied interpretations of the use of this phrase by Lennon
it's always enjoyable to google STUFF which often leads one to google further and more links appear

edit- UD #196 By Massey and we had losses by 15 to #60 GFCU, 30 to #83Harvard, and 9 to #84 VCU in our highest ranked opponents. The loss to #347DSU stands out as our most disappointing game to date.

Kind of frittered away a 32-23 lead in the last minute or two. A timeout by SJ might have been a good idea to settle things.

Hens were 4 for 25 from 3pt line. Ouch. Coach sounded ticked after the game.

Definitely playing better, probably because they're healthier? Defense looks improved other than the fourth quarter today which was affected by the game script with trailing

you were right about utilizing time outs. Additionally, a concern I often have with Jenkins is her in- game subbing. Removing players when they are HOT hurts the team and the player's confidence. If you put aside all the deja vu in our stats like TOs and poor 3pt% most every game, we could still have won a number of games we gave away this season. To her credit, Jenkins has recruited reasonable talent as I've mentioned previously. It just isn't being utilized effectively. Most of our games have followed similar patterns and she needs to figure a new MO to get the most out of her players.

The subbing yesterday caused us the Stony Brook game. Darianna Howard was lifted when she was on fire scoring and rebounding almost at will. Single handedly she was dominating the court. Even though DH has been inconsistent during her freshmen year, yesterday she was on her way to at least a double double with 6pts-10rbs in about 15 minutes and no TOs. She deserved to have been on the court!

I was hoping our freshman guard would help with the three point shooting and consistency at the guard position but she is off to a rocky start after finally getting on the court. She is only 1 of 15 (0.067%) from 3-point range and only 3 of 23 (0.130%) in field goals made per attempt. She was a pretty highly touted recruit so I’m hoping it’s just initial game jitters and maybe some rustiness coming off her injury.
