Feathers and Field Goals Podcast

Post by UDHoops »

Good morning to all on the GH board. When I first became a student here in 2019, I knew nothing much about UD Athletics. But I fell in love with the school and its sports fast. A big reason why I became so educated in the rich history of the school's athletic department was because I found this board. If you haven't seen it already, I am excited to announce the start of the Feathers and Field Goals Podcast. This project will cover as much of Blue Hens athletics as we can. We have a lot of great plans for this, and we kick off our first episode with Delaware Baseball Head Coach Greg Mamula. We discuss how he built his hitting philosophies under Coach Sherm here at UD, how he thought the 2023 season went, what to look forward to in 2024, and where the future of the program is heading. The links to the podcast homes can be found here below, where the first episode is easily accessible.

You can also follow us across our social media accounts (Twitter/X, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok) that we created. Here, we will post visual clips of the episodes that we produce. We know that not everyone is on all socials, but we hope to expand the audience to as many people as possible. The place for all socials can be found below.

Thank you all for the support and I hope that Dan and I can do the Athletic Department justice by telling the stories of our coaches, student athletes, and executives.

Real nice job guys and best of luck with this. Mams is a good interview. A couple of things to note:
Lesher moving from OF to SS and he thinks he's a better SS defensively than Freeman who started every game last year and led the CAA in assists
Big things expected from the transfer Graeber who will start in RF
Same for frosh pitcher August but a little concerning to hear him mention he doesn't have as many healthy pitchers as he'd like going into the season.

Right, it would have been nice to hear more surrounding the comment about the health of the pitching staff. A few veteran pitchers have not been pitching much, if at all, in the preseason scrimmages - Nelson, Gubitosi, Velasquez.

Thanks guys. Great interview with Nolan!
Referring to his time in the portal between the Rocco firing and Carty hiring, I loved his response to the visits he took to other schools: “It was like cheating on your girlfriend”.

Not one, but two interviews in Episode 7! Coach McMenemy joined to discuss the Summit League move and Izaiah Pasha dives into his recruitment and the type of player he is. One of my favorite (yet longest) background work to get this one together. I wanted to just give a thank you for your support from what we've put out so far. We hope to continue this for a long, long time and add new things as we go. I've been asked about a full visual episode release... which would be an awesome feature but having a full time job and doing this for fun outside of work, I'm not there yet for time on an editing standpoint. I hope you guys enjoy this one!

Talking points:
0:00 Introduction/Spring Sports Update
7:35 Tommy McMenemy Interview
46:21 Izaiah Pasha Interview
