Coaching Additions

One of the new DB coaches is Marvin Clecidor. Comes from Penn. Has previously been at Temple, Western Michigan, William and Mary and Princeton where he was co D coordinator.

Wonder why he was selected....seems to be an FCS journeyman except for a couple years at Temple and Western Michigan.

Wagner, Wilkes, Rutgers (grad assistant), Monmouth, Bill and Mary, Princeton, Penn.

Not exactly a Who's Who of powerhouse FCS football (nor FBS, with W. MI and Temple).

Recruiting, maybe? Hometown is Florida...but does he pull talent from there?

Well, he's a Hen! Hope he can improve our DB play.

If we recruited a whole team of zero star athletes that didn't have much proven success or staying power at blah level schools, people would ask questions.

But a coach is off limits?

So yeah...question the guy's resume...and note that it doesn't seem all that strong.

Then, yes, welcome him...he is a Hen.

Hopefully, the guy will make our DBs noticeably better and turn out to be a long-term solution for our D.

Plenty of coaches go through multiple mid level schools to gain experience prior to moving up to a larger school. Let's give Carty and the new coach the benefit of the doubt. I'm banking on he does a very good job in developing young players and enhancing the play of more senior players. And given the fact he is a Florida native, it's safe to assume that will be his recruiting area. Just keep on improving the roster and we will be fine.

I have no idea how this coaching hire will work out but I see nothing unusual in his resume. It’s pretty normal for position coaches to move around between schools to gain experience. Hopefully, he can improve the performance of our secondary and help with our Florida recruiting.

Here is the resume for one of the best coaches in the country (Bob Chesney), prior to head coaching stints at Holy Cross, JMU and now UCLA. Never know how a coach will develop throughout the years. Every stop you hope they learn something new, continue to grow their skillset and develop players.

2000–2001 Norwich (GA)
2002 Delaware Valley (DC)
2003–2004 King's (PA) (ST)
2005–2006 Johns Hopkins (ST/DB)
2007–2008 Johns Hopkins (DC/ST/DB)
2009 Johns Hopkins (AHC/DC/DB)
2010–2012 Salve Regina
2013–2017 Assumption
