An alternate open letter to Jordan Skolnick:
Dear Jordan,
Completely understand that UD has zero resources at your disposal and that your hands are tied. No one cares about UD Basketball anyway, so don’t let the ongoing non-performance in men’s basketball (including this historically poor performance in year 10 of MI’s tenure) have any influence on your decision to retain him. It actually may be in the University's best interest to extend him given Coach would have little leverage since no other program in America would hire him. And while you’re at it, please cancel any and all plans to in any way advance the Athletic Department’s vision for the future, starting with the north end-zone project. In fact it may be in our pest interest to reconsider our move to CUSA and rejoin Villanova, Richmond and William & Mary in the Patriot League.
Sincerely,
Go Hens posters

Hey Jordan,
You need to check out some of the posters on GoHens that apparently know where and how you can get all the money you need to completely reset the MBB program. It seems that you and your team of professional fundraisers and budget managers have overlooked very simple solutions that can be implemented almost immediately. Please don't tell us that your former president and AD left a mess for you to deal with because that is just not believable. Just get it done. Go Hens.
Love that.
rooneyguy is one of the few on here that understands UD's financial position.
Folks, we've all leared that money is fungible, but UD has some serious issues with their finances and tappin' that endowment azz for an MI buy-out is not a wise move. And you can't tap into the football NIL to pay off the basketball coach...good grief (although posing that question to the football players at the meet and greet might have been worth the effort
Our new UD president is experiencing a steep learing curve and her main focus has little to do with athletics. Maybe the News Journal can come up with one of their pre-release Carnac The Magnificent pieces that will help explain our current financial position...except their crack journalist stenographers never seem to ask the uncomfortable questions.
People make bad decisions and expect others to bail them out...institutions make poor choices, too.
Money. Toss in large amounts of your own money and things can change. Otherwise, sit back and enjoy the show.
Bowlin', bowlin', bowlin', keep them Blue Hens movin'...
Re: The Odds: New Mexico State
Who needs the NJ when we can get all this great into from the folks on gohens who know all about UD’s finances? But yeah. They mostly talk in generalities with no specifics. So no real help there except building strawmen.
Re: The Odds: New Mexico State
Hypothetical question here but if this had been MI’s final year of his contract, wound he deserve to come back next year? I know we have some posters saying that he has improved year by year but NIL has recently hurt our the program. Keep in mind we had 2 solid players who left to join the ACC this year yet we still finished near the bottom of a very weak CAA last season.
So finances asides, is MI the coach to lead us in a much more challenging conference?

Re: The Odds: New Mexico State
Is that a serious question? If money were no object there is zero chance he would be back. We might even hire a proven coach who could finally get this program going in the right direction. Given some of the financial considerations that others have posted about, we’ll just have to wait and see what happens come March.

Hengrad…Feel free to use any portion of my proposed alternate letter to Jordan in your own communication with him. I give you complete license to use and-or modify as you see fit. Good luck!
Re: The Odds: New Mexico State
Caught the coaches show tonight on the radio. Was the first time I heard MI say that some of the “injured” players have chosen not to come back and play. I guess because they want to preserve a year of eligibility??? So much for doing what’s best for the team.

Re: The Odds: New Mexico State
It should be a rule
if you want Martin fired, name who should be hired.
It sure seems like the University of Delaware put all the chips down on the football program and the move up to FBS
It was a very bold move, but with all big bets, there is risk involved
I don’t know anything, but it sure looks like the basketball program is the short term fallout of the move up.
Maybe once the finances are stabilized with the help of some big generous donors, we might see a plan materialize on how to get the basketball team back on its feet, but I think it’s gonna be several years of pain. Patience will be required

I know a lot of coaches who would not allow those guys to be sitting on the bench. The concept of what it means to be a member of a team should still matter.

Re: The Odds: New Mexico State
I agree…but with the portal and NIL there is zero loyalty in college athletics. I sure hope the NCAA puts some reasonable rules in place soon to help bring back just a little sanity. The pendulum has swung too far to the left. The game needs some common sense limitations (salary caps, contracts, etc.).

Some are not willing to play? Where has that been heard before?

Re: The Odds: New Mexico State
finpxz1, Don't you know that the Patriot League will never invite large public univerostuy UD to join? If UD ever gave up on FBS, UD would have to hope that the CAA would take UD back or that UD would be invited to join other northern CAA defectors in all sport America East including FB.finpxz1 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 18, 2026 11:48 am An alternate open letter to Jordan Skolnick:
