Season Predictions

Post by Udforever1 »

With training camp starting one week from now, and some predictions going on in another thread, figured we could all do it here.

@Stony Brook W
@Penn State L
Saint Francis W
New Hampshire W
Duquesne W
North Carolina A&T W
@ Hampton W
@ Towson W
Elon L
@Campbell W
Villanova L (until we can beat them I’ll always have this as a loss)

I think we drop one of UNH or Elon and go 8-3.

Schedule is favorable avoiding Richmond, W&M and shockingly URI, but anyone thinking we will just walk through this schedule after we lost an entire defense and have a new QB is just setting the staff up for failure.

8-3, playoff win, hopefully two, another step in the right direction before the program hopefully really takes off.

8-3 seems realistic with Elon and UNH being a toss up IMHO. Win road games (other than Happy Valley) will be key. Have to improve on the head scratcher road losses of the past.

Like UD1, I also say 8-3 but flip UNH and Elon. UNH is still an early season game and returns QB Max Brosmer and the ever-dangerous Dylan "JiffyLube" Laube.

I agree with 8 and 3 record. Loss at PSU, UNH & Elon a toss up, possibly win one & lose one, and believe the other might be a road loss like Campbell, because we come out flat similiar to Elon last year. I think we will get over the hump & beat Nova this year!

OK, here we go:

@Stony Brook W
@Penn State L
Saint Francis W
New Hampshire W
Duquesne W
North Carolina A&T W
@ Hampton W
@ Towson W
Elon W
@Campbell L
Villanova W

I think the Campbell game will be a trap game. On the road, before the nova game...and after a good winning streak...and I think Campbell will be a solid team.

Our offense will be better than last year...especially in the Red Zone. Carty has had a LOT of QBs succeed in his offenses, so it will be plug and play. Our OL is better just by the fact that everyone is bigger and has learned the offense better. There should be significantly fewer missed blocks/confusion/break downs this year. If the coaches have said the OL is much better, I am going to believe them until they prove me wrong. We are loaded at RB and WR...this is how Carty rolls.

Not worried about the D. Word is we are faster (just about everywhere) than last year, and there aren't a lot of teams in the CAA that are built to simply push people around. If we are scoring more on O, then that should also help our D.

Special teams should be special this year...that is certainly a game changer from last year and it will help our D with field position.

So, 9-2 and into the playoffs we go. :D
Tubby: 3 national titles, one won on the field, all D2
Keeler: 3 national titles, all won on the field, one as a player, two as a coach, 1 D2, 2 FCS
Carty: 2 on-field national titles, one as a player, one as an OC, both FCS

Carty - get an FBS bowl win!

I honestly don’t know what to think about 2023 yet. Haven’t seen these players and can barely name the Defense. We will miss Nolan Henderson is a prediction I will make.

Stony Brook game will tell us pretty much what we’ve got

If we’re really good, We would come out with the offense clicking vs SB kind of like the 2003 Citadel game. I realize that was a very special team with Hall starting second year so if offense starts hot, I’m feeling good.

I love the WRs on this team and they have a chance to be a special group. Yarns can catch the ball too. I can’t wait to see this offense

I know we have improved special teams, but I honestly don’t want to see much of the punter and the FG kicker

We haven’t won 8 games in the regular season for 12 years so this might not be the year we break that horrible streak as we already have one loss and are rebuilding it

8-3 would be a remarkable accomplishment in my book but that’s why we play the games because anything can happen
recruiting recruiting recruiting...It ain't rocket science....We need better more athletic players...That simple....

7-4 or 8-3 for me. PSU, Nova, Elon or UNH and they’ll probably lose one that we all think they’ll win from the rest.

hope you guys are correct. Frankly I don't have a clue other than losing to PSU and my concern of its aftereffects. Campbell away late in the year will be a tough one. The usual suspects? our QB play? our OL? our new D? who knows. The schedule certainly is a gift or so it appears. Anything less than 8-3 is- let me think- ahh- not acceptable.
On the positive side, I'm eager to view our games. I'm more eager to know the date of preseason practice and view the lowdown from you practice experts.
Realistically, patience prevails in this second year of the Carty Era. OMG- did I post that :lol:

Kind of reminds me of 2019 when we turned over most of the team. That season was a huge disappointment at 5-7. Most of us were planning on 9-3 for that one.

2023 worse case 5-6. We come out with really bad QB, OL, LB, and DL play.
Win 3 of these Saint Francis, Duquesne, NC@T, Hampton
Lose to Penn State, Nova, New Hampshire, Elon
Win 2 if these Hampton, Towson, Campbell

@Stony Brook L
@Penn State L
Saint Francis W
New Hampshire L
Duquesne W
North Carolina A&T W
@ Hampton W
@ Towson W
Elon L
@Campbell L
Villanova L

2023 Best Case 9-2. If we are good. OL is greatly improved, QB is as good or better than Henderson, Defense meets its talent potential on paper can learn and come together.
Wins Stony, Saint Francis, Duquese, NCa@T, Hampton, Towson, Campbell, Elon
Lose Penn State
Split the tossups: New Hampshire and Nova

@Stony Brook W
@Penn State L
Saint Francis W
New Hampshire L
Duquesne W
North Carolina A&T W
@ Hampton W
@ Towson W
Elon W
@Campbell W
Villanova W

2023 Probable 6-5 or 7-4 based on what we have seen the last decade. The usual Delaware Teams. We have some real stand out talent at skill positions. QB play is average, OL Play is bad to mediocre as usual. Defense has potential but lots of miscommunications/growing pains and some weaknesses we weren't aware of in the secondary and at LB. Come to find not enough depth all around.

Wins Saint Francis, Duquese, NCA@T, Hampton
Lose to Penn State
Win 2 or 3 three of these tossups below:
Stony Brook, UNH, Towson, Elon, Campbell, Nova

@Stony Brook W
@Penn State L
Saint Francis W
New Hampshire L
Duquesne W
North Carolina A&T W
@ Hampton W
@ Towson W

We can still make the playoffs at this point but lose the last 3 games as usual.

Elon L
@Campbell L
Villanova L

Will Carty finally break the mold or revert to the new normal?

I'm at 8-3. Loss at PSU. Split with UNH and Nova. One other loss. No playoffs.

No playoffs? 8-3 easily gets you in if you’re Delaware and it’s a 24 team playoff.
