I'm going to start with Ralph's post from the Stony Brook game thread.

I think it'd be fun to play against a team like Penn State. Take it play by play and do your job, that's all you can do. Make a big play and you can show that highlight off for the rest of your life. Go out and have a blast, it's only a game. Heck, we have guys still talking about getting "mossed" by the man who created the word! :D

Note: Any reference to Penn State's previous legal issues, no matter how horrific it was, will be deleted.

Really appreciate Ralph’s perspective as a former player. Hopefully the kids come in with a true belief that we can be competitive. Regardless, play loose, have fun, and take it one play at a time. And in a game like that, you have to have a short memory. If PSU rips off a 70 yard TD run, you have to move past it quickly and keep playing. I always thought it was a bit hypocritical of Tubby whenever he was questioned about games against I-A teams, saying he didn’t want to “prostitute” his players. Yet he had no trouble with us beating West Chester 84 to 0. I guess he was okay to be a “John” but not a lady of the evening??? LOL

Anyhow, looking forward to a fun time out in Happy Valley next weekend…regardless of the score, I’ll have my Blue Hens flag flying proudly during our tailgate.

It is no secret that James Franklin likes to run-up the score if the opportunities are there (just ask West Virginia), so just pick up the check and get of there with no major injuries. Has UD ever played a team that is ranked as high as PSU is now?

UD has never played a top 10 FBS team. I believe when we played VA Tech in 2017 they were ranked in the 20's. Also we played Temple (At DE stadium) in the 70's and they were 17 in FBS?

Former UD QB Cade Pribula’s brother, Beau Pribula, scored a TD for Penn State at the end of the game. He looked pretty good, very mobile.

Speaking of Cade Pribula, he is the starting QB for Sacred Heart this year. Was 17/28 for 138 in a loss to Lafayette yesterday.

The Penn State QB, Allar, is going to be a handful. He’s pretty mobile for a big guy and throws well on the run. He’s young but poised. WV had some success running up the middle but they had a good OL. I think Penn State is too quick to run wide on them. Quick hitters and quick slants may be our best approach on offense. I think Penn State will throw a lot of blitzes at us, both safety and LB blitzes. Our QBs will need to get the ball out quickly.

Ralph…I sent your quote to one of the current Delaware players. 👍

Carty should have you, and other Blue Hens who have taken the field, speak with the team on a regular basis.
Tubby: 3 national titles, one won on the field, all D2
Keeler: 3 national titles, all won on the field, one as a player, two as a coach, 1 D2, 2 FCS
Carty: 2 on-field national titles, one as a player, one as an OC, both FCS

Carty - get an FBS bowl win!

I'm happy to note that based upon Wayne Hanby's comments in another thread, it appears that Ralph will be with us again at the BHTC this Fall.

I'll let everyone know when we have the date firmed up. Thanks, Ralph!

Va. Tech was No. 18 for 2017 game (at least in AP poll), which turned on a punt return TD when Hens had 10 men on field and coaches didn't call a timeout. Of course scoring 0 points hurt as well.

Was fortunate enough to be there at Hokies but this Penn State team is a different animal. Three expected first-round picks. One Big 10 analyst said yesterday they likely have more talent than Mich. and Ohio State this year.

That Va Tech game was so frustrating. Our defense was lights out that season with Bilal, Adderley, both Reeder boys…if we had a QB that game could have been winnable.

My fear is that they won’t need to blitz to get significant pressure on us.
