I agree she's working to move us up so start by removing future cupcakes for a more appealing schedule to fans.
announcing the facilities campaign would not hurt winter/spring sports. It would be a strong signal to fans.
football is the money maker that funds those other sports.
Our ranking in polls is close to meaningless this early. Montana is above us and check out their record/opponents.
with all due respect my man, we're better than last year, but there were glaring weaknesses again that stood out.
if you're correct -winning is the only thing that matters to our fans so just sit tight. The CAA is ours for the taking!

just 2 weeks till the Dukes- that's Duquesne Dukes. "come on man"! we know why they were on the schedule. We're like PSU to them. just saying.
Not sure what polls you’re looking at. Montana is 4 spots behind UD in the coaches and 7 in the stats.

Carty’s focus was the O…but, surely, he had to take note of the difference on D (after all, he practiced against it).

We’ll see. I am an optimist.
Cluck,

Carty might have some blind spots but there’s no way he doesn’t know he needs to improve that defensive line. He just doesn’t like to talk about it as much as the skill positions.

I think he realizes those talent gaps he talked about will not be on the lines, but he knows they need to be improved if we’re going to be a serious title contender. We need that Alpha Dog on D….

Anybody remember Carty winning a national championship at UNH?

Anyone?

Beuller?

Anyone remember Carty’s offense dominating year after year in the FCS playoffs? How’d that work out? Heck, anyone remember when any of Carty’s UNH genius mentor’s coaches won the natty? Thinking….thinking…yeah, I can’t come up with anything.

Anyone remember Keeler winning the natty down at Sammy with all of the high flying offenses before Carty? Pre-Keeler, with a D and a run based offense, Sammy lost two chippers to NDSU. Keeler was good, but wasn’t winning the natty without a change. Keeler went with the high flying act and lost, big time, to the big boys. Beat a lot of teams…but just couldn’t get over the top.

Until…drum roll please…he went out and got a defense and a bigger OL that could run as well as help with the pass happy attack. Funny, Keeler actually said he needed to go out and do just that in order to win against the big boys. And then, dang it, the guy did just that.

For the win!

Anyone remember how many points Carty’s O put up against Monmouth? How about NDSU? What about SDSU? Surely, Carty’s O scorched those opponents. Wait…that just wasn’t true. The O didn’t overwhelm any of those teams. Say, anyone remember how Carty’s O did against Montana State?

Love Carty and expect him to grow as a coach. Should be fun to watch. :D
Tubby: 3 national titles, one won on the field, all D2
Keeler: 3 national titles, all won on the field, one as a player, two as a coach, 1 D2, 2 FCS
Carty: 2 on-field national titles, one as a player, one as an OC, both FCS

Carty - get an FBS bowl win!

Exactly. You get it.

Other folks…not so much. They want to go back to winning the CAA and just being “relevant” on a national scale. Keeler did it in two years. Then, he did a rebuild at Sammy and did it in only a couple years after he realized that gun-slinging wasn’t going to get it done.

Carry knows it can be done…Keeler provided Carty two blueprints on how do do it.

Carty will get us back into the national conversation quickly…and some fans will just have to be dragged along kicking and screaming about 4th down efficiency.

RC: Yeah, the answer would be South Dakota, Nebraska - you look at their roster, right? It’s the five surrounding states – Minnesota (plus Iowa & North Dakota). North Dakota State is similar, you know they go into California a little bit and Florida a little bit, there's probably five or six guys from Arizona and Florida on their roster at South Dakota State, but for the most part they're kids from the local areas and they get the best ones that the Big 10 doesn't take, probably.

Good article. Thanks for posting, HJ.

Montana State putting the old, “if you have two quarterbacks, you have none” to rest. The second guy almost won them the SDSU game. They certainly have a decision to make as to what type of offense they want to run in order to win the championship. Probably will always be some second guessing if they don’t bring home the hardware.

here u go -Massey has them 1 slot above us and Sagarin has them 4 slots below us. Villanova's record so far appears stronger than ours. Like I posted- way too early to study

edit- just checked Hero sports- Montana isn't even ranked in the top 25- not my hero!

You said polls, not Massey. So that’s what I was going with.

While it's easy to anticipate the Hens winning vs Duquesne, it is interesting that they haven't yet played an FCS team yet. They are 1-2 with a win against a Division VIIII team :D and two losses to FBS programs. They did put up nearly 350 yds of O against Coastal Carolina with an average of 5.1 yds per rush. Passing game doesn't appear to be a big threat.

Seems like a good opportunity for O'C to hone his timing and reads and develop some depth.

Tough to draw any big conclusions about Duquesne so far. They got rolled badly by two FBS opponents and reciprocated the favor on a modest PSAC club. Their QB1 has thrown 5 INTs in 3 games and they've lost 3 fumbles. They seem to want to try to be balanced on O, but ran effectively against Coastal. Their opponent this week, LIU, should be more on DU's level.

St Francis beat them 51-14 Last year, granted that was a hot St Francis with some good WRs at the time

They beat 3 FCS teams last year, Wagner, Sacred Heart and
Central Conn or the breadline of FCS

A scrappy team that will play hard and get beat by a much better and more athletic team

Hopefully we can blow them out and get one of the Freshman QBs some more playing time
