That punt return is a ESPN Top 10, not for the return but for the return coverage. I’ve never seen 5 guys BEHIND the punt returner when the catch is made. Ever!
Re: Hampton Game Thread
Pretty much agree although the FCS schedule to date has been worse than “relatively weak” and UNH is not a “strong team”. They are an almost defenseless average team. Might as well make a deep playoff run while the Hens FCS and CAA days are winding down.finpxz1 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 22, 2023 12:43 amGet off your high horse and take a chill pill. The vast majority of the posts in the thread were more than complimentary. All some folks are calling out, and I think rightfully so, is that our FCS schedule up to this point has been relatively weak. Other than New Hampshire, we truly haven’t played any strong FCS teams. And over the past 4 or 5 years, this program has not finished seasons well. All 4 games remaining on the schedule are more than winnable. I’d like to think we should win at least 3, and hopefully all 4. But until this team goes out and does it, I think a fair amount of skepticism is reasonable. You got one thing right though. Until we leave the dregs of the CAA behind us, all we can do is play the teams on our schedule. Now let’s go take care of business against Towson.Brookside kid hen wrote: ↑Sat Oct 21, 2023 6:42 pm What in the hell do all of you negative asses want from our football team? I've posted before that we have control over who we can schedule for 3-4 games a year. As long as we are in the CAA, we are going to play some bad teams, period. The CAA decides who we play in conference games, period. We play the schedule that they give us, period. We do not get to choose which teams we play in conference, period!!! Is it a dogs breakfast, yes!!! Until we move up and change conferences, this is what we are going to see. We won today with our backup QB by 44 freaking points and our defense gave up 220 yds and 3 points. We are 6-1, ranked 7th in the country, what the hell do we have to be unhappy about? I swear to the good Lord above some of you are the types that if you won $10 million in the lottery, you'd bitch about not winning $20 million. Give it a break guys, Lord have mercy. Would you rather go back to 3-4 seasons after 7 games in the era of "relevance"? Give me a break!!!
Re: Hampton Game Thread
That vote was surely unanimous and it carried the stipulation the name be changed. Why hasn’t Del State been added yet?
Re: Hampton Game Thread
Wait, so CR and our president/board are approving the “slugs” being added to the CAA? I’m shocked

The powers that be at UD didn't want to look bad voting to keep out a HBCU even if the quality of the CAA would slip. We weren't the only ones who felt that way.

It was great to see all the young guys get some time yesterday. But, you know, it was also great to see Quincy Watson get some carries too. Things have not turned out so well for #23. He is the 3rd guy of upperclassmen in the RB order and so he is somewhat the forgotten man. It sucks, not saying it’s unfair, but it sucks to work so long and find yourself in the situation he’s in. Stick in their Q, there may be need for you still this season (not wishing injury on MY or CK but, you never know how things develop). GoHens.
Re: Hampton Game Thread
My sentiments exactly. I was happy to see him get some playing time and he ran well yesterday. Just before he entered the game. I was wondering why he wasn’t playing, and was concerned that he may no longer be on the team. Yarns and Cumby are great backs and certainly deserve to be the top two RBs, but it was great to see Quincy get some playing time. Hopefully, he’ll get opportunities in the future to contribute.77HEN wrote: ↑Sun Oct 22, 2023 11:41 am It was great to see all the young guys get some time yesterday. I find it absolutely amazing Hampton beat Richmond. A bad team. A great game for UD in terms of building depth. Marker was superb. What a contrast with the Brock and Rocco years with regard to QB depth. The real season begins on Saturday at Towson.

I hear you BHB, but without the starting QB and young Star RB, Hampton knew what was coming and it showed in the body language. Besides, they had to practice with that QB all week and they knew it just wasn’t going to work.BlueHenBobby wrote: ↑Sun Oct 22, 2023 1:09 pm I find it absolutely amazing Hampton beat Richmond. Carty absolutely deserves credit for pulling in Marker from the Midwest as now, if starter gets hurt the season is not over.
recruiting recruiting recruiting...It ain't rocket science....We need better more athletic players...That simple....

With the weakness of the CAA, we should no longer be looking for creampuffs to fill our OOC games.
The fact that we scheduled St. Francis and Duquesne this season has only amplified this terrible schedule.
It would not have been so bad if we had a couple of competitive games in there against 2 decent FCS teams.
As long as we are in THIS CAA (and now with Bryant being added) our OOC scheduling policy needs to change, IMO.
We need to play better teams than the CAA has to offer if we want to improve.
And we need to attract fans to Delaware Stadium!

We had North Dakota State in a few years ago and couldn’t even sell the place out.HensRock wrote: ↑Sun Oct 22, 2023 1:41 pm With the weakness of the CAA, we should no longer be looking for creampuffs to fill our OOC games.

True. But we could have if we had a better team that year.Udforever1 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 22, 2023 1:43 pm We had North Dakota State in a few years ago and couldn’t even sell the place out.
We should concentrate on some UD at least has a history with. Like YSU, Lehigh (I wish they were better), Lafayette, maybe even UNI, SIU, EKU, The Citadel,

Re: Hampton Game Thread
Just was able to watch highlights on YouTube. Two comments:
1. That was potentially the worst college football broadcast I have ever laid eyes on. Just abysmal. Video resolution was like 480p.
2. Either we are the Georgia Bulldogs of FCS this year or that team should not be able to call itself a Division 1 team. Talent disparity looked staggering.

SOUTH Dakota State - and that was before they were championship material or even very well regarded. It was 2010 and the Hens, who played EWU in the NC game, whooped SDSU 26-3 in Newark. The return game in Brookings never happened. Bring SDSU or NDSU in now and the fans will come.Udforever1 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 22, 2023 1:43 pmWe had North Dakota State in a few years ago and couldn’t even sell the place out.HensRock wrote: ↑Sun Oct 22, 2023 1:41 pm With the weakness of the CAA, we should no longer be looking for creampuffs to fill our OOC games.
