The game is won in the trenches, that'll never change.

I think we are working to upgrade the OL but it takes a little time to do it. It’s difficult to land a seasoned and talented OL through the portal. A really talented OL is likely to transfer to an FBS school.

Agree Jax. I really like the two we brought in in Cacesse and O’Neal, and based off offers, Burnham this year, but would really like to see us address the DL this off season.

Yup, the NCAA is so transient now. I can make a case for and against it, hard to pick a lane.

Yes and Yes, it takes some timeUdforever1 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 25, 2023 11:14 amAgree Jax. I really like the two we brought in in Cacesse and O’Neal, and based off offers, Burnham this year, but would really like to see us address the DL this off season.
I kept asking for a name of an OL in the portal that would make us better, just not a lot there as the good ones are hot commodities

Yes it's all a tiered system, especially with the best O-Lineman. You've got the power 5 conferences, the best of the best. Then maybe a guy who just isn't at that SEC/Big 10 level transfers down, but now instead of FCS, it's to a G5 school. NIL money still better and NFL opportunities still better there than FCS. Then FCS teams get the scraps, or maybe get a few lower hanging fruit and a few intra division transfers, that's all. The days of getting a Gino Gradkowski from a power conference team is over, just a fact. I'm not trying to downgrade the couple of guys that we've gotten the last couple years, like Trent and Sparks, but they are not FCS All American type lineman is all I mean.

Correct Carib. Small sample size but some All Ivy guys have entered the portal this past week. Their offers:Caribbean Hen wrote: ↑Sat Nov 25, 2023 11:32 amYes and Yes, it takes some timeUdforever1 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 25, 2023 11:14 amAgree Jax. Jonathan Mendoza (Yale- First Team All Ivy)- 12 FBS offers so far
Spencer Cassell (Harvard- Second Team All Ivy) - 6 FBS offers
And not even IVY, D3 Muhlenberg transfer has already received a couple FBS offers.
More than likely, we’ll get some FBS guys that transfer down I’d imagine.
We can return almost the entire offensive line, at times this year that’s seemed like a good thing, at other times, like this past weekend, maybe not.
