Can we field a competitive football team next week?

Post by dovetail »

I know Delaware likes to keep mum on injuries but I don't recall seeing things this bad. Both QB's possibly out or severely limited. Talented and speedy receivers corps depleted and both top running backs limited. Yeah, injuries are a part of the game but I can't ever recall a situation as bad as this at the end of a season. November sucks.

It does but plenty of other teams weather the storm. We are fragile!

Fra-Gil-Ay?

There is a story about a leg lamp in there somewhere.
Tubby: 3 national titles, one won on the field, all D2
Keeler: 3 national titles, all won on the field, one as a player, two as a coach, 1 D2, 2 FCS
Carty: 2 on-field national titles, one as a player, one as an OC, both FCS

Carty - get an FBS bowl win!

Give Minu a week to prepare and he should do a decent job. The kid has wheels and guts. Laffy will be a challenge, but they aren’t a super team and we are on their level. Home field advantage should put us over the top.

Let’s hope both O’Connor and Minu are ready to play.

O’Connor injury does not appear to be as bad as Marker. He was back on the sideline after his injury walking around with no apparent difficulties.

O’Conner was throwing on the SW corner of the field, until Carty walked all the way down there and I assume told him he wasn’t going back in.

"Carty said after the game that Marker (leg) was apparently done for the season. O’Connor (unknown injury) appeared relatively OK — riding an exercise bike on the sideline at times in the second half — but didn’t return. “It’s football and it’s sports. It’s not like we’re dealing with things that nobody else can deal with. But there are certain years that kind of get you worse than others. Unfortunately, this seems to be one of those years.”

As much as I dislike the 3-2-6 I think we have the tallented players on defense to lead us to victory.

Cumby and Bermudez playing and contributing would help

Looking forward to seeing how #4 looks against a team that’s not Nova, playing as if it was planned he would be the starter all week and some healthy skill players.

If O’Conner can go even better
recruiting recruiting recruiting...It ain't rocket science....We need better more athletic players...That simple....

Hens have played with a TE and WR at QB I understand. Plus this squad has the best receivers in school history according to CHen. We should be able to do something positive.

Naturally my first concern is at QB. My second is Bradley A. If O’Conner is out or limited, running the football is going to be paramount this Saturday.

Losing Bradley A. takes away the three guard rotation we've had all season. It's helped them stay fresh all game. Now TJ Thomas will start, and he and Shupp will play probably the whole game.

One can take the Hen out of the zone, but not the zone out of the Hen.

People should be happy we are playing an old, familiar foe in these playoffs. Good times…good memories.

We still have enough firepower to compete with the lower half of the playoff contenders. Play solid D against the Laffy squad and we should be able to enjoy a home playoff victory. As to the O’C/Minu debate…I hope Carty gives both guys a lot of reps this week with appropriate game plans. Nick showed a willingness to run…which is important in this offense.

Saturday football at Delaware…after T-day. Something g to enjoy!
