Delaware subject to restrictions

Post by Mrgab2much »

Delaware will be subject to restrictions and fees once the announcement becomes official. For starters the athletic department will need to shell out $5 million as a transition fee. The NCAA recently changed that number from the $5,000 that was required before. The Blue Hens will also be unable to compete in the FCS playoffs next season per NCAA transition rules. Several of the aforementioned teams were subject to the same restrictions during their respective moves. Delaware is the first school to pay the $5 million.

Thank you. We are all aware of that. Donors that handle that fee for UD are greatly appreciated.

Yes, sir.

As you suggested elsewhere, fees and temporary football post-season restrictions will be the cost of doing business and improving the face of UD athletics over the long term. Dozens of schools have been subjected to payouts and restrictions over the years, and Delaware's not special in that regard. If the school has figured out a way to make the move and have the least impact on all of the athletes, they deserve a tremendous tip of the cap.

Very exciting time and not only for the football program.

Throw another $5 million into the dumpster...no biggie.

Seems we missed a Black Friday deal by a few weeks.
Tubby: 3 national titles, one won on the field, all D2
Keeler: 3 national titles, all won on the field, one as a player, two as a coach, 1 D2, 2 FCS
Carty: 2 on-field national titles, one as a player, one as an OC, both FCS

Carty - get an FBS bowl win!

Ha. Yes, sir. It's a steep fee and there will likely be more costs associated with exiting the Coastal and entering CUSA. That said, it sure beats the alternative.

The UD statements say there’s a cost of about $6M for moving fees (includes up and out)
