Re: Ohio
Toughness levels were not where they needed to be down the stretch; shame as overall thought we were pretty decent though a 7-22 night from Davis is not gonna cut it in close games like this.
Ah well 5-3 now and on to another tough one against Xavier.

When the staff sits down to evaluate the season during the Christmas break, the first words someone needs to say is “2nd half defense”. It’s a pattern and it’s ugly.
Re: Ohio
14 made lay ups by Ohio in the second half...14! As Vizzini would say, "Inconceivable!" As I said in the first half, dribble drive penetration is the Achilles heel for the hens defense. As Dave said, why not try a zone for a few trips down the floor. Terrible adjustment. Hens will get blown out by Xavier is they play like that. And I'm one of the more positive posters here on Hens basketball. And to think we were just inches away from Cavan saving the day.

Re: Ohio
Two things after watching today's game. One, we are not a good shooting team, outside of reilley, but I do love the way we crash the offensive glass, Ray and the guards in particular. We need a serious reality check on our defense in the lane, we guard great on the perimeter, but got just killed on the dribble drive straight to the rack. We blew a very winnable game today, reilley just didn't have time to get set on the last shot from the game. Oh well on to Xavier, hopefully we have a good showing.
Re: Ohio
It really is. And guards continue to dribble drive the Hens all the time. I thought all the 6’3”-6-5” guards brought in could play defense because all but one of them isn’t a scorer and none are shooters. And if Houser is only an 8-10 minute guy, which he looks to be now, this is basically last years team with Davis on his own and all those new guards that can’t shoot replacing Nelson and not very good CAA guards in Arletti and Asamoha. Expectations, which weren’t too high to begin with are getting lower all the time.
Re: Ohio
With results like this, I am not sure MI can survive the move to CUSA. More than ever, all UD coaches will have to prove they can meet a higher standard. Results will matter, particularly in the revenue producing sports, because of the need for added revenues.

Drexel just beat Nova. nova two losses in a row might not be what they were but still….meanwhile we find ways to lose instead of finding a way to win a big game now and again shame ….

Been a big supporter of MI, and I know it’s early, but slowly starting to feel different.
