SDSU’s QB made some well timed plays, drive extending plays with his legs. Griz QB missed some opportunities to get first downs with his legs. Announcers said he might have had some lingering injury issues. Seemed a bit slow.
A QB has to be able to run these days. The extra weapon makes a huge difference, especially against a tough pass rush.

Wow, South Dakota State just toyed with a very good Montana team and have to be considered one of the greatest FCS teams of all timeCluck U wrote: ↑Mon Jan 08, 2024 12:54 pm SDSU’s QB made some well timed plays, drive extending plays with his legs. For whatever reason McDowell stopped running on those plays in the last game and it was driving the Montana fans crazy. By the second half, his body language told everybody that the game was over.
South Dakota State finishes 15-0 and at number 18 on Massey. The 2013 Bison team finished in top 20. 1996 Marshall team up there as well.

Re: The Odds: FCS Championship
One caveat with '96 Marshall: they were permitted the opportunity to recruit players and transfers for an eventual I-A move in '97. If they did that today, they would have been barred from competing for the '96 championship or, as Tubby called it, "The Marshall Invitational". In my opinion, they were the best "I-AA" team I've witnessed, but they were afforded natural advantages SDSU and others didn't have, the Randy Moss "pay-to-play" controversy notwithstanding.Caribbean Hen wrote: ↑Mon Jan 08, 2024 1:31 pmSouth Dakota State finishes 15-0 and at number 18 on Massey. Re: The Odds: FCS Championship
Remarkable run by SDSU…someone finally beat our record for fewest points given up (damned shame we let up the last second TD to Woffy, but even without that, the Jacks beat it). Going into the 2003 playoffs, Woffy was ranked #2, UD #3, SIU #4, Colgate #6 and UNI #7. That was a much tougher slate than that Jacks had.UD '01 grad wrote: ↑Tue Jan 09, 2024 7:04 am Highest Point Differential in Playoffs (Since 1996)

Re: The Odds: FCS Championship
True, but, thanks to the Montana FG, we are still the only team with a shutout in the Championship game, and, I’d have to check, but probably still the largest margin of victory.Cluck U wrote: ↑Tue Jan 09, 2024 7:36 amRemarkable run by SDSU…someone finally beat our record for fewest points given up (damned shame we let up the last second TD to Woffy, but even without that, the Jacks beat it).
