It all came apart when Sears moved from downtown to the "new" Dover Mall.

The Blue Hen Mall may have been the only mall in America with a farm house in the parking lot.

Exactly. A mix of the past and a dose of the current trends
I would love them to go back to these uniforms. They are simple and peferct. Lose the Delaware across the chest and the silly new font. I like the variations of all white, all blue, white/blue, etc. and they would look much better if the uniforms were less cluttered.

No names ever on the back, that would be an affront to tradition IMO. I personally hate the sharing of low digit numbers, but if the players like it and are into it, that's fine with me. If they ever put that stupid cartoon chicken on the helmet, then I'd be done.

Do we fans believe in tradition in at least some form? Frankly I like cool unis though 8) is subjective. So, for me, we either scrap our FIGHT SONG-BLUE AND GOLD or we go blue and gold in all of our outfits with IDENTICAL colors of blue and gold(never variations). Our AD can utilize a survey or simply decide. Actually I prefer some form of a new identity for our teams though I favor retaining our B&G traditional colors. Following UD's decision on the above, it might be wise/popular public relations to create a contest to assist on uni selections with drawings and descriptions required to enter. This process might garner lots of media attention locally and possibly spread further. Surveying student reactions initially, as well as our interested alumni, would be a smart marketing tool. Clothes don't make the person or team! Performance does and speaks volumes!

This "tradition" as well as "uniform" decision should be made promptly. Possibly the long awaited Facilities Campaign announcement should follow shortly. Delaware needs to get our message out to the country that we want to jack up our FBS move. Marshall McLuhan's "the Medium is the Message" has without question become true reality.

Got Mickey Morandini's autograph and saw Gordon from Sesame Street at Blue Hen Mall. Penny's was an anchor store there the longest.

Yep, JC Penny's held the northern anchor spot for pretty much the whole run. I remember the southern anchor being Woolco and then Roses. I missed Morandini and Gordon, but I do remember seeing Zippy the Chimp ride a motorcycle, lumberjacks trying to knock each other off of rolling logs in a temporary pool, throwing coins in the fountain that had a little marble boy taking a leak into it, etc. My favorite stores were Bavarian Pretzel, Sound Odyssey, and Waldenbooks, and I enjoyed catching a movie in the excellent single-screen theater.

Ah, the good old days.

Penny’s? Since I am not familiar with the stores at the Blue Hen Mall…are you referring to JC Penney’s?

I worked at the Christiana Mall store for a couple years. Wow…throwback memories.

OK, time to move on.

Much like professional teams, and even colleges use championships to introduce new uniform color schemes, just like UD did in 2004, moves to a new conference is likely an opportunity to adjust branding. Retro is in and that may be all Dick’s reappearance is, but I would not be surprised to see branding changes as UD moves towards our July 2025 move to FBS / CUSA.
