yes HJ- as well as many others who have joined THE GANG of disillusioned true fans who want better. Even you( a true fan of UD loyalty) have referred to your distress with our programs as well. somebody has to do it to get results- the "squeaky wheel" analogy

Speaking of black sheep...I watched about 20 minutes of Black Sheep Squadron (aka Baa Baa Black Sheep) the other night. Loved the old F4U Corsairs with their bent wings. The episode had some Army Mustangs join Pappy Boyington's Marine Corsairs on the island (the show was about a squadron in the Pacific theater)...always a good discussion about the benefits of both types of planes.
However, the plot was that they had an aircraft performance contest to see which group would be assigned to shoot down Admiral Yamamoto. Pappy's group won because they cheated...but in the end, the Army guys got to shoot down Yamamoto. The problem with the plot was that Yamamoto was shot down by our Army guys flying P38 Lightnings (another fantastic plane).
Anyway, I guess the studio couldn't get enough P38s to form a squadron, so they just went with the Mustangs.
Robert Conrad was pretty fun in that series.

I read that and shake my head, it’s actually the only thing I’d really want to see. UD should be showing it off with pride.Cluck U wrote: ↑Tue Jan 16, 2024 9:23 am PS - no student gives two shytes about beating nova in football…and they don’t care about winning a CAA trophy. They don’t know about the huge name change either…because the CAA doesn’t register as a real football conference.
Seriously…hard to find a student that can name our conference. We have students working at restaurants telling customers they wish they had gone to a football school. For those folks who are not locals…the UD student/parent tours do not include our sports complex. Sure, they can get on a bus and see it on their own, but that is not part of the tour.
Maybe things change if we can pull off a few big upsets in our new FBS home and if students can see themselves on ESPN. Host a College Game Day and the students will come
recruiting recruiting recruiting...It ain't rocket science....We need better more athletic players...That simple....

HJ- UD and the state are a small community-duh!. Believe me, most everyone involved in UD decision becomes aware of the general dialog here over time. BTW- KT began to join recently in the same language. My comments were simply part of the stream that evolved on our board slowly moving to the high level of disillusionment I mentioned specifically with our football program. Certainly they don't peruse the the caliber of play posts, but the they notice references to the lack of attendance and therefore revenues-$$$. Bball has been bleeding that as well. The women's program/attendance is horrendous to view at the Bob. We should have beaten a ST. BROOK 12-1 team- a small tidbit of press might have been achieved, but we blew it on national tv.
If the "front porch" concept is valid, and I believe it is due to our decline/name recognition in sports, then Assanis must have added to the push for FBS. The discontent from our board became quite evident as many more joined in the call for skipping out on the CAA asap. The recent additions to the conference were the final straw for many. Missing the boat appears to be costing us that 5 mill bill I bitched about. I still believe we could challenge that based on the Sherman Anti Trust Act et. al. like JMU and probably win. But, like deciding to go FBS, the courage to challenge that ludicrous fee hasn't materialized. Why not?? Yeah we can afford it, but it's like trying to get blood out of a stone.
I'm comfortable and have accepted my roll as the pain in the azz but it is paying off and as long as I "wake up in the morning not breathing dirt" I'll be tuning to all the games. I catch all LAX action(a winner for us with DeLuca). It's is a bright stop in the Rayak era like the stadium campaign. Oh- we were told it was going to be announced during the past football season, but......If our other sports continue to improve I expect to check them out as well. Matter of fact, I had considered driving my wife and I to a few games over the last few years but opted out based on the product on the field. The future looks brighter, and we might make it to a Liberty game and some others if we start kicking butt. The thought sounds good and maybe I'll see BLUE and GOLD on the players and our fans. I mean a FIGHT song is supposed to mean something. right?
see= the black sheep threw in a couple more zingers along with a few compliments. If it makes MY alma mater more successful, then I've carried out my mission.
Flacco had 4 great games for the Browns. unfortunately not in the playoff game. Still we've always bragged about OUR guy who left Pitt for us to everybody. We need more guys to build up our pride.

I’m just glad, or maybe not, you’re posting your thoughts during the season instead of the typical “I’ll post my thoughts after the season” phrase you usually give us. Easy to be right when you post after the season that it played out as you expected it to…

By the way, you brought up your experience in sports in your first rant. At what schools and what sports at those schools did you coach?
Asking for a friend…

OK...gotta' give you credit for digging up that one, although it must be hard to deal with your "friend's" multiple personalities these days.
