Hey! You couldn’t defend 4-4 against a good team? No kidding as it was KC. And I will take .500 against JMU in these first four FBS meetings. How about you? And it isn’t own fault if you hang around dopes.

No drama at all. I posted the numbers because I was curious myself.

I texted the JMU games to about 20 people yesterday, including a group of JMU grads, and didn’t get one response about JMU’s 5 game win streak over UD. Just find it funny, or odd, or whatever you want to call it, the different response I guess.

Yup...KC held his own against one of the CAA's best and got our first (and only) FCS/I-AA national championship after a 20+ year drought. Brock won two against JMU, then fell off a cliff on his way to helping lead UD into the Lost Decade. Rocco, who the experts assured us was part of building the program the right way, failed miserably and became "relevant" to only those sad creatures that drown their sorrows with a few insignificant facts about recent coaches in order to forget the progenitor of our massive losing trend to nova.

But hey...Carty has a chance to do something fantastic...get our first win as an FBS program! The guy has two national championships at the FCS level...and two playoff wins as a head coach at the FCS level...now it is time to have some success at our new and improved level.
Tubby: 3 national titles, one won on the field, all D2
Keeler: 3 national titles, all won on the field, one as a player, two as a coach, 1 D2, 2 FCS
Carty: 2 on-field national titles, one as a player, one as an OC, both FCS

Carty - get an FBS bowl win!

What's odd is that it bothered you initially and you immediately responded . The only point I, and often others was trying to make was that people often see the Hens in an entirely different light then the inner circle on here does. Moving to FBS is a proud day for many of our fans and I'm included but we don't need to convince everyone they have to go along with our optimism . When I make a statement to strangers , out of pride, that we used to do a number on JMU and then discover it was a long time ago it's a bummer. Even if YOU think it's odd we discussed the history from Wikipedia which was available in just a few seconds. The results were the results and even breaking it down we still were not what I thought we were since 2002.
Expecting me to explain a conversation at a bar is really the odd part of this discussion also. Me actually trying to placate you is just as disturbing.

Let's end it!

I’m confused Henzone as to what bothered me. Facts don’t bother me, well I guess they do, as the last 5 games against JMU bother me as coaches who YOU told us to be patient with and were building programs the right way failed, miserably I may add.

None of this is as odd as YOU coming back after being banned and posting from multiple names. Now that’s odd. Let’s end that please.

So, a priest, a rabbi and a disgruntled Hens fan walk into a bar...you all know what happened next.

To lighten things up:

https://philly.thedrinknation.com/artic ... f-All-Time

1. Two guys walk into a bar. The third one ducks.

2. A blind man walks into a bar. And a table. And a chair.

3. A guy walks into a bar carrying jumper cables. The bartender says, "Hey pal, don't start anything in here."

4. So a horse walks into a bar, and the bartender asks, "Why the long face?" The horse has crippling depression, alcoholism is his only escape.

5. A skeleton walks into a bar and says, "Gimme a pint and a mop."

6. Helium walks into a bar, and the bartender says, "Sorry, we don't serve Noble Gases here." He doesn't react.

7. A grasshopper walks into a bar, and the bartender says, "We have a drink named after you!" The grasshopper says, "You have a drink called Freddy?"

8. Two chemists walk into a bar. The first chemist says, "I'll have a glass of H2O." The second chemist says, "I'll have a glass of H20 too." The second chemist dies.

9. Two chemists walk into a bar. The first chemist says, "I'll have a glass of H20." The second chemist says, "I'll take a water too." The first chemist breaks down in tears. His assassination attempt failed.

10. A German walks into a bar and asks for a martini. The bartender asks, "Dry?" The German replies, "Nein, just one."

11. George R. R. Martin, Joss Whedon, and Steven Moffat walk into a bar, and everyone you've ever loved dies.

12. The past, present, and future walk into a bar. It was tense.

13. So a five dollar bill walks into a bar, and the bartender says, "Hey. This is a singles bar."

14. A snake slithers into a bar and asks for a beer. The bartender replies, "Sorry, we don't serve your kind here." "Why not?" asks the snake. "You can't hold your liquor."

15. A Roman walks into a bar, hold up two fingers, and says, "Five beers please."

16. A priest, a rabbi, and a monk walk into the bar. The bartender says, “What is this, a joke?”

17. So a dyslexic guy walks into a bra.

18. A Roman walks into a bar and says, "One martinus please." The bartender replies, "Don't you mean martini?" The Roman says, "If I wanted more than one, I would have asked."

19.Three fonts walk into a bar. The bartender looks up and says, "We don't serve your type in here."

20. A man walks into a bar owned by horses. The bartender says, "Why the short face?"

Yes we've lost five straight to JMU, but as I recall they were all pretty close games. Please correct me if I'm wrong on that.

They sure were at our place. Backwards pass in gale force winds and a blocked punt determined another game as I recall. The playoff game at their place they controlled the game, but I agree with you Brookside, most of the games in the past decade we’ve played them tough.

There is really nothing to debate about the series. Forever was kind enough to supply the numbers but he left out the first 12 games because THAT coach went 8-4 and set a tough pace to maintain. And we didn't ! It's kind of like the Villanova situation. Two different special rivalries that we can't seem to get on the right side of. Instead of trying to place blame or shield certain coaches why not just accept that the situation needs to be righted and move on? No, I get attacked because I've offended someone with facts. In the past 20 years we've had some great football but you can't change history and shift blame to make yourself feel better because your favorites have some flaws.

We still have time to beat Nova on November 23rd and possibly end the series on a high note. Will we rise up or melt down and hear some whiny excuses on November 24th on here?

LOVE that JMU is coming back in the picture and Ryan get's an opportunity to kick azz at home.

Pretty good spin, honestly. Pretty obvious I didn’t include Tubby because you brought up the last 3 head coaches, not 4.

But yes, you’re right, in that we need to send Nova off with a loss, and then ditch the 5 game losing streak to JMU once we play them.

as to Villanova- I'd vote to retain that rivalry quite often and/or always if they were to go FBS. A good rivalry fills the seats and gets the juices flowing. If our goal is to play the best teams we can and be truly FBS competitive, then schedule up so we can offer higher level recruits the exposure they crave. CUSA cannot presently meet that requirement, but it's presently the best we could find. As has been posted, hopefully CUSA is just a stepping stone to a more appealing schedule.

Here are some facts:

Tubby only beat one JMU team that had more than 7 wins (the 1995 JMU team that finished 8-4).
Tubby beat only two JMU teams that had 7 or more wins (the 1995 team and the 1996 team that finished 7-4).
Tubby never beat a JMU team that had a playoff win.

The truth is that Tubby never beat a really good JMU team. That is simply a fact. Some folks seem to have a clouded memory when thinking JMU was a powerhouse rival…they were not good back in the old days when we beat them. FACT. So, comparing our recent coaches’ success against JMU versus our wins against bad JMU programs is just a silly game for old folks with bad memories.

And…nova?

Here are the facts:

Tubby only had two wins against nova teams with 7 or more victories (1991 and 1992). No other nova team that Tubby beat had more than 6 wins. And Tubby only had three wins (and one tie) against nova teams with 6 wins.

That is what someone is calling success against a “rival.” Two wins against good teams (both of those nova teams lost in the first round)…five total wins against our “rival” with a winning record. 29 years…5 wins that could be counted as decent games…and one tie.

CONGRATS!!!!

More facts: Tubby started our downward trend against nova…lost 5 of his last 6 against Talley.

Perspective. You’re welcome.
