if Reilly isn't canning his 3s, he's a liability on the court. The TOs are concerning. I agree we need to come out strong!

Elon had a very good defensive plan and executed it very well. They were in our skip pass lanes all night.

Edit; Drexel downs Hofstra
Hofstra currently has the #5 seed and Hens #6

Oh well. This team just has so little margin for error. When they don’t play that well, they can loose to anybody in the CAA and they just did. The top end was a 4th place finish. Now looking like 5-6.

Absolutely deflating losing this game. Win the games you're supposed to win!

Houser and Reilly 1-11 from 3.... terrible

Davis and Drumgoole 5-12 from FT... terrible

5 assist / 16 turnovers... terrible

Ingelsby needs to have his team up for games like this.

I’m not a huge UD basketball fan but why isn’t Martin using his bench more? Is it a trust issue? Is it lack of talent?

We got what 2 bench points & like others have said, out free throws 6-14.

I think it’s a little bit of both. He has always gone with a shallow rotation regardless of how much depth he has in any given year. It’s been a source of frustration for fans for a long time now. Right now, he is basically using a seven man rotation while “teasing” Wes Peterson with 2-4 minutes a game. It’s so hard for players in that situation to get in to a rhythm, especially when they have seen how quick the coach is to yank players as soon as they make a mistake.

When Zion Bethea was healthy for those couple of games, Martin was running more of an eight man rotation, with the 8th guy getting double digit minutes. But he’s never, over the years, gone deeper than that.

I think he has grown as a coach over the years. But this is one area where I will agree to disagree with his philosophy.

MI is a laid back type of a coach and it looks like his team is too.

Elon played better than their record against us and proved last night that coming together at the right time. They could be a dangerous draw in DC.

I had posted the following in the "Just the Numbers" thread PRIOR to the Elon Game -

"UD '01 grad, Thanks for the info. I am pleased that UD ranks in the top half of the CAA in rebounding, three point shooting and turnovers (which could stand improvement). There is no justification for the poor foul shooting which if it doesn't significantly improve will cost UD."

i wish that I had been wrong. Foul shooting & turnovers are still a concern as is IMO lack of quality depth. Repeating my refrain during at least the entire Inglesby era, I wish that UD tried to play more zone, at least against teams struggling with their three point shooting who kill UD in the paint.
