As Udf1 said, our schedule has DSU and UConn at home, and Wake Forest and Colorado away. That is WAY better than the dreck we've have on the docket recently.

UConn is a chance at FBS wins (something many folks should be hoping we get a lot of). 4.5 hours away...closer than UNH and Maine...and UMass...just about the same to Albany. It is a familiar foe from some of the good ol' days. It also means we don't have to sacrifice ourselves for another money game and we don't have to pay to bring them to the Tub (as we will with our yearly OOC FCS opponent). Not the greatest city in the world...but there are things to do in the area. And, it gets us one extra home game versus another road payout.

It is a win-win series for everyone as we make our transition to the big leagues, and if it can get us into a Bowl game, then yee-haw!

We all know UMass will also be in the mix in the future...just a mater of time.
Crazy you even have to spell it all out Cluck. Spot on.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the NCAA has a proposal on the table to make 5-7 teams bowl eligible. If adopted, it would rule out a 2nd year FBS team getting a waiver to play in a bowl game AND unless they add bowl games, 6-6 G5 teams may also be left at home for 5-7 P4 teams with big fan bases.
Yikes! Thank you for sharing that information. Can you keep the message board updated if that actually passes?

The more reason I hope that the G5 has her own playoff system on the future this is pretty brutal. It would be nice to have something to play for.

I would say, probably not for a while one I’m certain they’re not trying to get their butts kicked immediately maybe have a chance to win some of these other games otherwise we’ll never have a chance at a bowl game if we don’t start winning some games . Also, many FBS teams have their schedules made out five years from now already things change, but getting super large Programs to come here just not gonna happen. I would say we’re more likely going to get the UCONN UMass. Maybe Army or Navy type thing. We will see remember we are the new fish in the pond.
Temple? Rutgers? Maryland? Buffalo? UMass? ODU?

Thanks for keeping things in their proper perspective, ol' #58.

This is a good series for the Blue Hens on so many levels. To hell with the naysayers.

Why would Rutgers or Maryland come here?
UD to FBS. I never thought I’d see the day

I agree. Atlantic coast teams are a good choice and Mora should be able to reconstruct a competitive program. People can identify Conn on a map easier than DE

I think you’re crazy if you think a Big 10 team is going to come to Newark.

Great to see us bring back an old rivalry series with UConn. The move to FBS and CUSA opens up so many more interesting potential scheduling options. Hoping to see home and home games with Temple, UMass, Marshall, Navy, Army, Georgia Southern, ODU and others in the coming years…

It's the Will Knight Bowl

I like this a lot. We should be playing UConn, JMU, Temple, Army, Navy, UMass, etc. Schools that are comparable to us both in terms ability and geographically. I don't see UD and C-USA as a permanent marriage. I don't think there is any conference that can say with any level of confidence that in this landscape, we are secure for the next thirty years with our teams. The PAC 12 folded...that's insane. My point is, reconnecting with old rivals isn't a bad thing. You can have rivals outside your conference, but would anyone be SHOCKED if one day on this board we were discussing a conference with some or all of the schools I listed above making up its membership? It's an exciting time to be apart of the FBS.

Was it UConn where Nagy and Conti went off for like a billion yards?

Yes, program records for passing yards (Nagy) and receiving yards (Conti) still in place.

UD joining a conference resembling those teams or geographically is what the goal more than likely is in the future. Right now, the closest conference to this geographically is the AAC. Perhaps in the future Conf USA expands more to the east coast or the AAC expands to two divisions and makes room for UD, if UD is successful. If Umass were to join Conference USA as rumored that would be the first baby step towards this.

First things first we need to be competitive in Conf USA and fill our small stadium. Then we need to get this practice facility and NEZ expansion project off the ground. Winning, Increased Attendance/engagement, and the improved stadium/facilities is the key to getting into a better conference. Lots of work to do.

More fans will probably come out to the tub to see UConn and JMU over St.Francis, Sacred Heart, Duquese etc....So attendance and interest should increase just based upon the quality of teams we are going to be playing. Just can't get blown out by 4 touchdowns plus every game. Need to continue recruiting and see if this staff can hang at the FBS level.
