The women trounced Kent State yesterday, 18-4. Twelve different Hens scored. They are ow 4-1 on the season, undefeated at home. Their lone loss was against Temple. They are fun to watch! GO HENS!

Watched about 40 minutes of the Cal-Colgate ladies' game the other weekend. Couldn't see the field or players for a good 10 minutes during the blizzard...just blurs on the TV. Actually couldn't tell it was a ladies game until it got clear enough.

It was rather entertaining...the ladies were slipping and sliding...clearly, there were problems with the footing. The ladies were all helping clear the 8-meter arc and other lines whenever there was a need. I though for sure they were going to stop the game until the squall passed, but they played on.

Reminded me of a high school soccer game way back when...couldn't see past 20 yards with the wind swirling the blinding snow...damned cold, too. It was actually fun, though...definitely something to remember.

The women are now 6-1 after beating Lafayette yesterday 13-3. In addition to a prolific attack, I have seen smothering defense and aggressive goalkeeping. The goalkeeping is not a surprise as our coach, Amy Altig, has coached gks for the U.S. national team.

The Hens remain on a roll. Yesterday they beat Wagner 17-6 to finish their non-conference part of the schedule 7-1.
On to the CAA!

Congratulations to Madison Hranicka. She was named CAA Defensive Player of the Week. She had a huge week for the Hens, totaling 16 caused turnovers and 13 ground balls.

“In the 13-3 defeat of Lafayette, she set a program and CAA single game record with 11 CTs and added eight ground balls. Her 11 caused turnovers aided the Hens to a program record 26 on the day.”

She currently ranks #1 in the country for Caused Turnovers per Game (4.75 per game) and #2 in Ground Balls per Game (4.75 per game).
