Delaware

Cory Capri, M, Yale (Gr.)
Jack Kolbe, M, Merrimack
Thanks, DC. Did it say what year Kolbe is?
Listed as a Sophomore this year on the Merrimack site so must be a rising Junior in 2025.

Thanks for another great year of insight and analysis. What are your thoughts about how we will compete in the A-10?
I don't get to this board very often after the season so I am sorry for the delay getting back to you. I think Delaware will be very competitive in the A10. I would think that they will annually be in the top 3 with SJU and Richmond.

They will need to out-recruit St.Joseph's in Canada and in the Philadelphia region in order to maintain historical dominance over the Hawks. SJU definitely has a vibe about them though. The ESPN announcers drool over these guys anytime they cover their games. They give the Hawks WAY TOO MUCH credit for a team that has never won an NCAA game even with 5th and 6th year players. Coach Wray needs to rebuild the SJU squad much the same way DeLuca will need to rebuild UD this coming year. I believe that the Hens have a lot more talent returning and coming in over the next two years.

Richmond also needs to rebuild this coming season. They are essentially starting from scratch next year. High Point is a big question mark after Coach Torpey left for the Brown job. High Point's viability as a "University" is also in question. They almost lost accreditation this past year and about 25 guys are transferring out this off season.

One thing to note, is that Hens will get a boatload more exposure being on ESPN and ESPN+ versus the FLOSPoRTS nonsense. This should help them in the rankings and with publicity. The NCAA lacrosse press will actually get a chance to see the Hens and comment on their games.

Increased roster sizes...48 for men's lacrosse.

That might spell doom for many smaller programs. If you can go to Notre Dame and get a full scholarship and/or NIL money, versus going to a smaller school that might not be able to compete financially...tough choice.

Will UD fully fund more men's lacrosse scholarships? And, as has been discussed on other threads, what happens to Title IX requirements? It is going to be very, very, very expensive to compete with the big boys across all sports.

Assuming that most HS athletes really want to play their sports in college, availability of playing time should always be a big factor recruiting.

To be Title 9 compliant, doesn't UD have to add at least 1 & maybe more scholarships based upon the female/total student body ratio?
