I was critical of Tubby, KC, Brock, and Rocco, and I will be critical of Carty. There are no sacred cows in coaching land. Carty had better start recruiting like an FBS coach, or he needs to not be an FBS coach very long. His story has yet to be written. I wish him well.

Always great to have a critical voice on these boards. It serves to keep homers, like me, in check!93BlueHen wrote: ↑Sun Jun 02, 2024 12:34 pmI was critical of Tubby, KC, Brock, and Rocco, and I will be critical of Carty. It appears that Carty and staff have begun to recruit like an FBS staff.
- Offering much earlier than in the past.
- Offering before official and unofficial visits are taken.
- Competing for players with multiple G5 and P4 offers.
- Competing for players with 3 star ratings. ( Of the 100 recruits listed here, about 40% are 3 star rated).
Re: CUSA 2024 Football
Personally speaking, I really like Carty. It would be really sweet to have another former Hen player succeed as head coach. I'm rooting for him. If I was AD, I'd give him three years in FBS (25-27) and then do an honest assessment. We cannot afford to flounder for long after the transition. Ryan deserves a little slack in his leash, but not too much to the detriment of the program.mpwerrell wrote: ↑Sun Jun 02, 2024 12:55 pmAlways great to have a critical voice on these boards. Re: CUSA 2024 Football
The national exposure the CUSA broadcast format is far and away superior to anything UD has been a part of in the past. With Colorado and Wake on next year’s schedule, we may well see as many as 7 games being broadcast nationally. And gone are the days UD pays to be on TV; TV will now be paying us.

It's a step up indeed and not an easy one with NIL, transfer portal etc. I'm not sure how ANY coach in college football can build any depth on their roster with all the flip flopping.Cluck U wrote: ↑Sun Jun 02, 2024 3:36 pmTroof.93BlueHen wrote: ↑Sun Jun 02, 2024 12:34 pmI was critical of Tubby, KC, Brock, and Rocco, and I will be critical of Carty. Was Carty hired knowing that he was going to be transitioning this team to FBS?

Re: CUSA 2024 Football
Well, we are transitioning from the “best ever” (fun stuff) group of wide receivers that were a very senior class oriented group, to a much younger group that Hero sports hasn’t really seen much of, so I’m not really worried about it just yet.93BlueHen wrote: ↑Sun Jun 02, 2024 12:34 pmI was critical of Tubby, KC, Brock, and Rocco, and I will be critical of Carty. Re: CUSA 2024 Football
In looking at the recruiting part of this site, it appears as though they are going for more three star recruits. However that leaves a bit of a gap for 2025 unless those recruits produce their first year (assuming we can get them). Not likely we will have a bevy of freshman starters in 2025. More likely Carty will hit the transfer portal at the end of this season. That is where the change needs to come from to make 2025 a reasonably successful year. Especially need D-line and O-line......mpwerrell wrote: ↑Sun Jun 02, 2024 12:55 pmAlways great to have a critical voice on these boards. Regarding that CUSA preview that HENJOHN posted earlier in this thread: Won't it be fun to see those type of write ups for UD, rather than the crappy coverage that we now get in FCS?

An extra 4-hour practice reduction to focus on studies? Wonder how that is enforced (making them study during that 4 hours)..is that session tutored; can it be broken up into 15-minutes per day? Just curious about how that metric is measured.
